It's true, #PrehistoricPlanet Ice Age is coming to #AppleTV for November 2025. These images show how good our animals are, but... believe me, this barely scratches the surface!! It has been a massive thrill and privilege to help bring this series together... you're in for an incredible treat.

Could extraordinary plume-like structures like those on Longisquama and the recently described Mirasaura be present in other drepanosauromorphs? I think it is not completely out of the question!

Disability is not a moral failing

It’s not something a person chooses, nor can they β€œtry harder” out of it

Most of us will experience disability at some point in our lives

You can be born disabled, it can happen suddenly due to accident or illness or be the result of aging

It’s a part of life

Today is a very good day for long-standing enigmatic weirdos being pretty conclusively figured out. Longisquama is a drepanosaur, Nectocaris is a chaetognath, and Palaeocampa anthrax (metal name) is an aysheaiid (!!!)

Nectocaris is a very hard-to-interpret Cambrian invertebrate. It's been suggested to be a cephalopod, radiodont, chordate, or its own ranch. Today, the closely-related Nektognathus was described, showing anatomical features uniting the nectocardidids with Chaetognatha

A pencile sketch of a large drepanosaur clinging to a mossy branch by hind limbs and prehensile tail (and tailtip claw!) with its haevy clawed forelimbs raised in a defensive posture, a tall crest of "feathers" on its shoulder hump. A speech balloon filled with grawlix comes from its birdlike face.

Between Mirasaura and Longisquama, it's entirely possible (though still speculative!) that these sorts of feather-like structures are present in other drepanosaurs. So with that in mind, I couldn't resist sketching an annoyed Drepanosaurus with a flamboyant crest.

(He angy.)
