I am delighted to be on the Gordon Burn longlist because number one, I am a Gordon Burn nut, and number two the books I have already read on this list are brilliant. Thank you so much.

I'll be reading at The Stinging Fly launch on Thursday. A character's personal tempest inside literal one or lesbian road trip with supernatural fairies, damaged bogs, an upturned camper van, high jinx, creepy haunting and winks to The Wizard of Oz & an historic storm that battered Ireland in 1839.

Men arenโ€™t vanishing from fiction. The truth is much more complicated As debates over the โ€˜disappearingโ€™ young male novelist rumble on, some authors and critics push back against claims that fiction has closed its doors to men. Hannah Ewens learns that the real problem ...

It took 7 yrs to find a publisher for my 1st novel because young women writers in the early 2000s weren't currency. Finally a balancing out & the menz are unhappy. Good points here:

Made this Butternut & Sage #Risotto as I had it recently at Circle of Missรฉ Writers Retreat, France. Owner/chef Aaron Tighe is putting together a #cookbook of grub he feeds to writers! He makes his veg stock fresh, so I did too. It's very rich as it uses butter & cheese; once in an orange moon dish.

Every time the shocking, perplexing tactic of โ€œgiving money to people who need itโ€ is tried, it turns out to work.

And yet people who have more money than they could ever need remain baffled.

Received my contributor copy of The Stinging Fly yesterday and am dipping in & out as the pages fall open. Nandini Rawat's story *Tulipa* - about the human cost of the logistics industry under capitalism - is absolutely brilliant. Spiky, zany-paced and genuinely terrifying, what a fantastic writer.
