Really hope that every single journalist is asking Republican leadership and upcoming candidates about the specific aspects of Trump’s agenda they will be letting into the state with absolutely no pushback if they are put in charge.

There’s some ugly values out there that voters deserve to know.

I’m sure a PR excuse will arise, but the only actual explanation here is that Republicans don’t want to go on the record opposing a likely future action by Trump or his administration’s guiding policy framework, even when the cost is the safety of Oregon’s children.

Bill came out of committee unanimously supported. No opposition testimony on the record. All stakeholders happy.

Once it hit the Floor? Every Republican (except Mannix) voted against.

Rep Grayber (@djgrayber.bsky.social) brokered a bill between labor, business, and agencies that would ensure Oregon’s child labor protections can’t get weaker than they are right now as a result of Federal action. If Oregon wants to change its own laws? Fine. If Feds try to change it for us? Nope.

Our state’s child labor laws are tied to the FLSA. If the Feds weaken protections, Oregon’s get weaker too.

Project 2025 recommends rolling back these laws for kids, especially when it comes to “dangerous work”. Several states have already weakened their protections for children as young as 12.

The Libertarians have something to say. Sure would love to know where all my self-proclaimed OrLeg “libertarian leaning” colleagues are on this and why they are wholly silent in the face of state-sanctioned violence.

Disgusting, inhumane, and unforgivable. Abolish ICE. RIP Alex Pretti.

Only voting for candidates that run on holding this administration legally accountable for their actions, and clarifying the boundaries of the Executive Branch so this can never happen again.

I fear we have a long way to go.

Democrats need to realize ICE isn’t just—or even primarily—a mass deportation force.

ICE is also Trump’s most loyal internal security force which will be used to attack regime opponents and try to steal the election. They should defund his authoritarian capabilities.

We are on a dangerous path in America. A panel of Ninth Circuit judges has chosen to not hold the president accountable: they just granted the federal government’s motion to stay our first TRO, which prevented the president from deploying Oregon National Guard troops in Oregon.

Great summary. Every legislator but one put their own communities at risk of greater harm with this vote.
