Last week, for the fifth time, a message from Microsoft landed in my inbox: Congratulations, MVP!

It's like someone from the other side of the world saying, "Hey, we see you and what you're doing—and that's cool."

"What do I do for work?" someone on the street once asked me.

"I tinker with computers," I answered truthfully.

The thing about tinkering is that most of the time, no one knows exactly what you're doing or what it's all about. But sometimes, this computer tinkering has its power.
