In this image you can see a large patch of white foam floating on the water. You can also tell that the water is about two inches too low, meaning that most of the cascade isn't currently happening.

In this image you can see buildups of filth, peeling paint, brown water, and very low water levels. The pool seen at the top of the image should be spilling over creating a cascade wall.

Btw here are some close ups of the water in the fountain. When it was first turned on this year, it had not been cleaned and the water looked like it was straight from the river. Is this just stagnation and evaporation over months? Has there been no upkeep at all??

Even if you don't care about the architectural significance of this plaza or its architect, or the larger unrealized plan it was a part of, you *should* care about whether our city government cares about its own properties (or budget). You can't rely on volunteers for everything.

So like, how does the parks/beautification department in Rochester work? Does it work? Does it exist?

Bc you don't need massive renovations that include the mayor's name on the signs to keep parks better than this.

Anyway, I'm not feeling good about any local candidates after the last week or so of news. Yes, I'll always vote, but jfc stop sucking so bad.

I haven't been excited about a presidential candidate or any for mayor, senator, council member, etc., in almost 20 years.

Goodness and equality and justice is well within our reach. But we keep reaching past them, for that ever allusive ethical complete power.

The great, great majority of people (certainly those I've met and known) still have in their hearts a lust for power, for control, for importance bestowed from outside themselves. For being special, different, above.

We have to accept leadership (from small local orgs to world governments) to participate in society. And our choices are mostly those who are using their leadership position to wield power, or haven't yet admitted that to themselves.

It's clear that humanity needs leaders. But when will humanity evolve enough to lead?

How can we evolve and grow as a people when the ability to create and sustain change is linked with the concept of power?

Those who want to control are drawn to positions that can guide society, and, sooner or later, realize their true love: power.

I hear you, but I'm certainly frustrated looking out my window at this small plot through the icy winter and fiery summer with minimal change, all while the city is destroying other "unofficial" camps.

The peace village, btw, is not under construction like your article mentions. Back in early winter they poured concrete pads, put up a fence, and it looks like they laid utilities. I haven't seen anyone there since.

One would have to imagine that the first step in ensuring that the meetings were as important as they should be would be to attend said meetings regularly and religiously.

The complete lack of attention this is getting from the rest of our local leaders is very, very telling.

I can't get over missing a monthly meeting, like, at all, and I can't get over suggesting the solution to the problem is simply taking a month off for vacations in the summer.

And it's the easiest thing to be on top of. This is a very common thing for them, and when I worked there I was constantly reminding folks to update it.

Not updating the website with basic information is a symptom of broken internal communication and culture.

One of my big critiques of the Susan B Anthony Museum is their lack of planning for visitor experience.

Case in point: the banner on their website says they will be closed on July 4. Today is July 16.

They have two people dedicated to website maintenance and at least two more w edit permissions.
