I ask educators and EdTech policy makers to take GENUINE resposibility for their techological choices. For this, software ethics (political and ecological) need to be a central element of Al and Ed Tech policy.

AI is Carceral Ed-Tech I've always been deeply uncomfortable with the casual observation that "schools are prisons," even if there are undoubtedly schools that do almost everything in their power to circumscribe the freedom...

One reason that I appreciate Audrey Watters framing AI as carceral ed-tech is how doing so helps to contextualize the technology in a longer history of carceral technologies and opens paths of analysis and intervention to pursue with young people, educators, and communities. 🧵
