Just drop the mod loader into your game folder and set the game folder as the mod loader path. It should make a mods folder.

Then you have to unzip the font patch into its own folder in the mods folder

But I realize that some of this is a limitation of Japanese engines based on older Japanese VN engines that were already kind of a mess to begin with.

Like, games like Tsukihime Remake and Mahoyo would have been significantly elevated by (1) a better font and (2) proper book typography, since those are NVL style and their presentation already feels elevated above most VNs. Imagine if they had a little more polish.

It'd also be nice if more VN engines had good typography features. A lot of the time I see a VN without support for styles (bold/italic/both) or typographer's quotes. Proper typography is, I know, not something most people think about, but it'd go a long way in a game that's... you know, a book.

I just learned that there's a "better kerning" patch for Hundred Line. Why devs don't fix kerning in English translations of VNs still is beyond me, but this'll make the last few routes I have left feel way better to read

I liked SHf a lot, but imo the strongest parts of the writing were not the symbolism or metaphors, but the way the game made me adore the character that in the first five minutes and empathize with the catty fake mfer

Yeah, I mean if there's any part of an enemy you can't parse, don't worry, Hinako WILL tell you what it is and exactly what it means with almost zero ambiguity. You don't even need to sit through half an hour of a boring guy explaining it!

I think of all the games besides the Western-developed games, SHf is probably the least deserving of an "enemy designs explained" type video (despite being a good game it is perhaps the least subtle SH game in terms of symbolism/imagery) but at least do your research

Yes all of my playthroughs were on story action difficulty idc I'm not good with horror games with combat

The only trophies I'm missing in Silent Hill f are the "complete the game on the higher action difficulty" and with how much you get ganked and forced into combat in the latter areas of the game I'm not super sure I want to do those..... but otherwise I'm at 96% completion so...
