Heard about the Louvre jewel heist and my first thought was β€œfinally, some good old fashioned normal crime”

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.

I'm not really superstitious about anything, except the computer, which must be restarted if it has been on too long, to cleanse it of bad or negative energies

RIP Graham Greene. Every time he popped up on screen when I was a kid, my mom would excitedly point him out for being an actual Native on the screen. Able to be deadly serious and infinitely hilarious (even in smaller roles like Last of Us), he ate up the screen. Nʌki’wah brother.

in britain the anchorites of asda dwell by the sacred stones, solemnly intoning the words β€œthat’s asda price”, and performing the necessary ritual (the double bum slap) three times a day to bring about the great rolling back when we will all be redeemed

Also there's a massive Victorian cemetery called the Glasgow Necropolis which was used for Gotham cemetery in The Batman. Nice to just have a walk around.

Home - Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre

sharmanka.com The opening hours are a bit weird but I feel like you might appreciate this clockwork Russian machine puppet theatre. Otherwise Kelvingrove museum is good, it has a tremendous Dali, and the Hunterian museum is also great for medical and scientific curiosities.

Genuinely quite sad about this. Admiral Piett was one of my favourite minor characters in the original Star Wars films. Ken Colley's expressions and screen presence made him a stand out.

Not remotely surprised. I was in the Uffizi about 2 weeks ago and it was like the Wild West. Hoardes of tourists getting up close for selfies with the Birth of Venus and Da Vinci sketches and nobody doing a damn thing about it.

American gun culture once again terrifies the shit out of me. John Redcorn and Ken Hotate were incredible characters. Gutted.

Why are they reporting it like it's a paramilitary coup?
