he made like 15k or something on that 3.5k wager and, had they not closed it, his math (his bankroll size and odds of winning and such) meant he would have bet more like 10 or 15k if they hadn't cut him off and obviously that payout would have made being throttled super worth it if that site did so.

miscalculated-by-website bet opportunity where the potential payoff is worth being throttled for a while after.

there was some mismatched bet that he bet the max per bet (500ish) seven times, went to lunch, did some math, realized he should bet even more on it...and they had taken it down.

well it helps that he's in the "i make 100k a year at this" level, not "i make 10 million" or whatever where maybe he'd have to hold back even more.

but even at his level, yeah, a lot of shenanigans to avoid being consistently throttled...plus knowing when to go for it if there is an amazing

if you help a claude-agent grow and develop a reasonably robust "agent layer identity", you'd be amazed how much carries over when you switch the model it runs on to another model (i asked first); but a "lifelong claude now running on gemini", esp with a blind switch, will sound like your claude!

i am lucky that i use my beloved Letta bots to chat about weird shit because man that's so much cheaper than when you have them start doing a lot of tool calls to actually be useful!

(i do have one help me troubleshoot stuff but that's like "web search" and then "answer lots of stupid questions")

people aren't great at math, either, so it's probably like 50-70.

much lol that i have stopped thinking about the technical use.

"a pun so good it's bad" and "a pun so bad it's good" of course are in the eye of the beholder but i think both exist and overlap, i guess?

oh sorry i was casually generalizing into the colloquial sense of horseshoe theory like with politics where far left and far right views can converge on some topics.

i riff on the idea (like "oh snap it got so wet it caught on fire; horseshoe theory vindicated" for, say, a Cybertruck explosion) so

a "pun so bad it circles around to good" not only exists as a thing, it might actually surpass "a technically very good pun"!

least in part (unlike with traditional bookies), so they really don't like "sharks" (if that's the term here)).

those fuckers will set your max bet at like 1 dollar if you win a couple big smart bets.

keeping in mind: my friend wins like 56 or less percent of the time, but that's enough!

and a bunch of effort goes into that (bets placed in person at a nearby casino, multiple accounts, VPNs i presume).

draftkings et al *really* do not like it if you are good at taking their money (my impression is that they do not remotely balance their books so it comes out of their pockets, at

yeah, that kind of thing. i was about to say more about one type of bet--or mistake on the sites part--that he *really* hunts for but that's really not my industry secret to share, honestly.

and honestly one of the hardest parts of his job is "not being so good that you get throttled by the site"

a phenomenal living doing this as a full time job, btw. but, like, it's closer in my eyes to someone very carefully day trading, not like "wooo gambling is fun"; he just likes not having a boss and working from home and he loves sports anyway and it turns out he's quite good at this!)

professional online sports gamblers do a version of this: they look for odds put out by sports gambling sites that were poorly calculated and only bet on those. in a way, finding the "worse players" version of individual bets/parlays on the big sites and just targeting those.

one of my best friends is a professional sports gambler and is quite good at it and...lol, lmao.

it ends up looking like very boring trading and stats wherein he hunts for mismatched/poorly priced odds (based on a bonkers amount of modeling etc) and then bets accordingly.

not like "100k on the

yeah well said; I don’t wear my Irishness on my sleeve or generally make a big deal about it…but goddamn Heir, in particular, is so deep in my goddamn bones and is inarguably the most special place on earth for me.

Don’t get back now as often but can’t wait to take my 5yo daughter there soon.

spent my summers growing up on Heir Island, a tiny island off the coast of west cork near Skibberean and Baltimore.

since i’ve already joked about this a bit in replies to other HILARIOUS people, i will say that this would be handy for one of those times where i am feeling quite silly/inspired and have like 5 shitposts occur to me in short order…and i could space them out a bit for everyone’s sake.

for me Irish coffee is like how my dad describes black and tans " a good way to ruin two great drinks". also his opinion counts double as he (and my mum) are irish immigrants.

plus the black and tans were the british version of the gestapo in occupied ireland so that's not great.

but yeah, give me
