After a half century of being told that the radical demand for a transformed social and economic order was a series of empty illusions, the choice to keep dreaming, even as we plant both feet firmly on the ground and in the streets, is exactly the kind of radical practice Le Guin would be proud of.

The image shows a devastated landscape, likely in the aftermath of a significant explosion. The scene is barren, with numerous trees stripped of their branches and buildings reduced to rubble. The area appears to be covered in snow, suggesting a winter setting. This image is consistent with the aftermath of the Halifax Explosion of 1917, which was one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history, caused by the collision of two ships, one carrying explosives, in the harbor of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The explosion resulted in widespread destruction, as evidenced by the desolate and ruined environment in the photograph.

The 2.9 kiloton explosion destroyed nearly everything in an area of 2.6 kilometres in Halifax.
As water rushed back in to fill the void left by the explosion in the harbour, it created a tsunami 18 metres high.
About 1,600 people were killed instantly.

The image depicts a massive explosion with a large plume of smoke rising into the sky. The explosion appears to be quite significant, given the size and density of the smoke cloud. The photograph seems to be historical, possibly capturing a wartime event or a major industrial accident. The presence of people observing from a distance at the bottom of the image suggests that this event was of considerable interest or concern to those nearby. At 9:05 a.m. the Mont-Blanc exploded.
The blast wave shot out from the ship at 1 km per second. At the centre of the explosion, the temperature was hotter than the surface of the sun. For a brief moment, the bottom of Halifax Harbour was exposed.
