(She/Her) avgeek and wx nerd, dreams of flying a C172. Opinions my own. Led the creation of a website to help teach folks about weather and its impacts on aviation, check it out at: avmet.navcanada.ca

Absolute gem of a morning, spent in YOW tower. As a student pilot based there, it was such a unique opportunity to ask questions, learn, and just meet the people i spend so much time talking to! Truly great gang โค๏ธ

How to know you're raising a Canadian kid...
Who needs sand anyways ๐
Oh wow. Closest I ever got was premium economy YOW-YYZ ๐ about 4 years ago. Just a wee bit shorter of a flight.

11.02.2026 04:14 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Love this post so much! Not ATC here - my ops background is being an aviation meteorologist and operations duty manager (managing flow at a major airport in canada). Also a big avgeek working on my PPL โค๏ธ and someone who loves making aviation and met more accessible for the world.

Well it looks like tomorrow's flight will be another scrub. Incoming storm on the horizon.

Cloud surfing at sunset is one of my favorite window seats views. Unless you're in the cockpit, there's no better seat in the house.

30.01.2026 20:20 โ ๐ 22 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is so cool. I was 99% sure you had experience but wasnt sure if it was in ships or subs. I have so many questions now, so beware if we ever meet up - it wont just be aviation related! ๐
30.01.2026 19:37 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I had no idea, thats really cool! FWIW i have great respect for those who work on subs. It's not something I'd ever be able to do.
30.01.2026 16:52 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Hah, our T/S prof's name was Richard. And it was fitting with how he treated the class.
Apologies if this is a dumb question (the extent of my sea legs is deep sea fishing) but what are you expected to rely on when far out to sea if all electronics die? (GPS, navigation maps etc)
How'd you find them? PDEs was really interesting, but i struggled hard with T/S physics. I wouldve loved a class on celestial navigation!
30.01.2026 16:08 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Never mind jobs you had, tell me five classes you took at university.
- thermal and statistical physics
- partial differential equations
- synoptic Meteorology (I/II)
- world of chem: drugs
- cloud physics
Highway overpasses across a river
I remember watching the Buffalo Bayou Park flooding after hurricane Harvey. The pictures and videos of water overflowing these banks, sometimes engulfing the overpasses above. This week i ran the park trail. It's almost impossible to imagine that much water... it was surreal.
