Let's cut the crap: If Ukraine falls, American safety is at risk.

If Elon thinks standing with Ukraine makes me a traitor, then he knows nothing about keeping America safe.

Americans are also stupid. But it’s not our fault. Our current politics are a function of the loss of critical thinking. School systems stopped teaching critical thinking in the 1980’s (think Ronald Reagan). Kids since then grew to be parents who tell school boards to ban books. They elected Trump.

Americans are dumb, and it’s not our fault. Over 30 years ago, Carl Sagan wrote: “The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media”. Read The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark

These are my first posts here. First I overran the character limit. When I broke it up, the order of my post is the reverse of what I intended. So read from the bottom up.

My first step, after posting this, will be to reach out personally to my state and national representatives and put them on notice that I want more than strong statements. We must take the offense and turn from just reacting and defending. Our leaders must lead.

I have loved ones under direct threat from actions and policies of the Trump putsch against our freedoms and our country as some politicians enable this and the rest just issue statements of condemnation.

We need more from our politicians.

Putin killed budding democracy in Russia. It happened in Hungary with Victor Orban. It’s happening again in other countries right now. It’s happening here, in the cradle of democracy, right now.

I am committed to not letting it happen here.

I’m of Jewish heritage. Well-connected and wealthy German Jews never thought the Nazis would come for them. But they did. Decent German politicians and officials never thought it would go as far as it did. And it did. And it was too late.

I am reaching out to my representatives.

I’m waking up. Kristallnacht is coming. The book burning has already started, except today that looks like taking down websites and wiping out data. The Säuberung, the cleansing, has begun.
