Last week one of my kids said to me, "Gender traumatizes autistic people." I felt that in my bones.

This week I read a book "Murder in an Irish Cottage" One of the main characters was blind. The protagonist spent the book stamping out ableism. Including why the blind woman could be the murderer. #presumecompetence

Earlier this week I read We're Not Broken by @ericmgarcia.bsky.social . Must read. Moved on to Murder in an Irish Cottage, starting Library of Broken Hearts ( I think that's what it's called, I am mostly terrible with names .)

The idea of posting here is daunting, but this morning I am thinking about interdependence. Living in a family of autistic humans, I think about this a lot. Fostering interdependence is hard in a world that values independence above everything. Independence needs to stop being the ultimate goal.

Look at the Mother Westwind stories. We read them to the kids when they were little. I think it is very possible that given the time that they were published they " borrowed" from indigenous stories. But I would have to read them again to be sure.
