Credits just rolled on Donkey Kong Bananza. Overall a very, very good game! Slightly held back by some questionable design choices but still one of the best 3D platformers ever made. If you think it's better than Super Mario Odyssey you are smoking crack cocaine.

James Gunn's Superman: I liked it! Maybe doesn't 100% work 100% of the time but it's very entertaining and when all the pieces line up just right - which happens fairly often - some really potent moments are created. The most I've enjoyed a superhero movie in a while.

Didn't watch as many movies as I would like to have in April due to Real Life Things coming first, but still a good month overall. If you haven't seen The Graduate you should change that, I promise it feels way more contemporary and relatable than its age would indicate.

Finally got around to finishing Future Boy Conan today. All in all I absolutely loved it, especially the back half of the series. If you consider yourself a fan of Hayao Miyazaki and his work, you absolutely MUST try and get your hands on a copy.

This feels like a ridiculous question, but are there popular artists out there still composing classical music just for the love of the genre, or is it all just for movies/TV/video games etc now?

My Letterboxd wrapped for 2024. I expected the most watched director to be Akira Kurosawa but it turns out that this Hamilton Luske was one of the directors on a bunch of Disney movies from the early 40s to early 60s, so Luske it is. 170 movies total - not bad.

I hate those stories about people being capable of amazing feats of strength when needed, like lifting a car off a baby. Imagine if a car fell on your baby and you couldn't lift it. Guess you just didn't love your baby enough to Go Beast Mode.
