Finished Whole Cake Island! Probably one of my favourite One Piece arcs overall? As a huge Sanji fan I was always going to like it, but the Disney-esque setting and the very different "win condition" of the plot make it feel really distinct. Ended up liking Bege way more than I expected. Good stuff!

Sorry but you will never convince me to watch that Primate movie. Clear anti-monkey propaganda intended to further divide us from our hairy brethren. If the scenario in the film did come to pass in reality, I'm certain an amicable solution could be reached.

It's really rare that One Piece's animation impresses me but to give credit where credit is due, episode 870 really delivers in a way that the show usually doesn't. Possibly the most I've actually enjoyed a One Piece fight so far.

review of Evil Dead II (1987)
Where the fuck did Sam Raimi find Bruce Campbell? Dude looks like he was chiseled out of granite by Zeus himself. An absurdly handsome man, some kind of sick joke on the rest of us surely. Definitely ...
It's been a really long time since I last saw it, but Evil Dead II is still just a ton of fun. Playful and gory and inventive throughout. Bruce Campbell is magnificent, as is Raimi's "swing for the fences" direction. Very excited to see Send Help now!

Plur1bus: Really good! Guilty of just a little wheel spinning in the middle, and I doubt it will ever top its very first episode, but other than that it's really, really difficult to fault. Super glad I went in knowing nothing about its premise or even genre, so I'll leave it at that. More please!

I've been using Duolingo to learn German for a year today. People will tell you that it isn't the best learning resource, and that's probably true, but I definitely know more German than I used to and have enjoyed the process so far.

Just got out of Marty Supreme. Pretty good! Lacks some of the enraging intensity of Uncut Gems/Good Time but really entertaining nevertheless. I've seen a lot of people be really cynical about the ending, but I found it quite touching. Timothรฉe Chalamet is truly the best actor of his generation.

Redid my list of "Top 25 games". Loosely ordered, at least for the first 10 or so. Their are probably some great games that I've simply temporarily forgotten about, so don't be too shocked if this changes in the future.

James Gunn's Superman: I liked it! Maybe doesn't 100% work 100% of the time but it's very entertaining and when all the pieces line up just right - which happens fairly often - some really potent moments are created. The most I've enjoyed a superhero movie in a while.

Was rewatching Lord of the Rings when I noticed this weird plot hole, why does Gandalf tell Frodo the ring is cool? Doesn't he know that it's evil?

"Abbey Road" this, "Pet Sounds" that. Real ones know that the best album of all time is Kirk Van Houten's "Can I Borrow a Feeling".

I am very sad that the new Mission: Impossible is apparently more of a Dead Reckoning (bad) than a Ghost Protocol/Rogue Nation/Fallout (good).

Didn't watch as many movies as I would like to have in April due to Real Life Things coming first, but still a good month overall. If you haven't seen The Graduate you should change that, I promise it feels way more contemporary and relatable than its age would indicate.

All the movies I watched in March 2025, rated and reviewed. Slightly slower month due to various commitments, but a strong one all the same. David Lynch's "Blue Velvet" has become an instant personal favourite.
