Dropped my smileys. As I went through the images of my art, I was struck by how seldom I drew anybody or anything smiling. The last is a sketch cover I did for an auction.

This seems strangely specific. But also - noted.

I didn’t love Bucharest (didn’t hate it, either) - it was a little rundown and dirty, but Transylvania was beautiful. If you ever visit, Bucharest is worth a day or two (there is an amazing park) but I would stay in Braşov in Transylvania. Very pretty city - particularly the historic area.

It’s actually really interesting to hear Romanians talk about Vlad Dracul (the son), because most of the stories outside of Romania don’t talk a lot about how his brutality was a response to that of the Ottoman’s. 1/2

Irony of ironies, it’s the real life “Dracula’s Castle.” However, according to the tour guide, Vlad Dracul never actually set foot in the castle, making it the greatest piece of marketing ever.

Emerson Alum. Granted, I haven’t been there since’94, but what everyone else has said was my experience - you start at the Boston campus, then have the option of a semester to a year either there or at their campus in the Netherlands.

I will definitely let you know.

I haven’t made it west of Saltzburg yet, but Innsbruck is on my list. Hallstatt was lovely, and I’m glad I went, but too many tourists.

Between that and my art, I’ve been pondering starting a site to sell prints. I’ll definitely post about it if and when I decide to do it. Thank you for the compliment.

It was actually an interesting tour. The city is amazing. Great museums, good food, the wine is lovely (if that’s your thing).

I’m on the other end of the country. I’ve loved living here. I could see where sudden trip supporting a friend might not be the best way to visit a new country.

Love this movie - live in Vienna. I’ve been to many of the locations. There’s a sewer tour that’s more about the sewers than about the movie, but they bill it as a Third Man tour. Read the book as part of a novel into film class in college.

People’s tastes need to be considered when making recommendations. I don’t think that happens frequently enough.

I try to approach it the same way - collectors of over 45 years, former comic shop employee. Not everyone wants to read superheroes.
As an English teacher, I have often pushed for Maus & Persepolis to the curriculums. While I love those books, I also see the academic value.
