Yes it’s August 18th. Yes the heat index yesterday was over 100 degrees. Yes I am drinking iced pumpkin spice coffee and dreaming of finally being able to break out my sweatshirt collection.

Welp. Apparently I had my phone screen unlocked in my pocket while mowing the yard and accidentally texted complete gibberish to multiple people. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Pastor friends, your parishioners are listening to how you speak about health and healing from the pulpit and it absolutely directly influences their approach to their own healthcare.

Me: Has a grown-up house with a grown-up kitchen with grown-up dishes and drink glasses.

Also me: Drinks out of the same pickle jar I’ve had since seminary.

I legitimately keep forgetting that it’s Lent, so the fact that it’s Holy Week is a constant surprise. What do you mean Maundy Thursday is tomorrow!?! Ash Wednesday was just last week!!!

I had the privilege to preside over Communion with another deacon this past Sunday. It was my first time ever saying the words of the liturgy since the Discipline gave us sacramental authority. 9 days into the new year and I’ve finished two books, “To the Lighthouse” by Virginia Woolf and “Prairie Lotus” by Linda Sue Park. Currently working through “City of Brass” be S. A. Chakraborty and “The Woman They Could Not Silence” by Kate Moore. All excellent books!

Having The Golden Girls playing on a constant loop in the background has been the best mental health choice I’ve made in a very long time.

If there’s one sentiment I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing again, it’s “you’re upset about this bad thing?! Well, what about this worse thing?!”

I’m watching silly ghost hunting shows, I’ve got sweatpants, a fuzzy blanket and a snoozing dog on my lap. I’m knitting a sock, drinking tea, and occasionally taking breaks to work on my crossword puzzle. I have ascended into my ultimate form.
