before you take any of the "Trump is pivoting/lamenting/lowering the temperature after the Pretti murder" stories too seriously, absolutely nothing has changed in Minneapolis: "an absolutely brutal day of raids and abductions" says one friend

Trump is filling his government with Nazis, consolidating authoritarian power, and eroding democracy at every chance.

And yet these 86 House Democrats voted for a right-wing messaging amendment to say that the real authoritarians are the socialists.

Pathetic.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

Itโ€™s not about what this country can or canโ€™t afford.

Itโ€™s about priorities.

Trump is 30 points underwater. Dems swept the special elections. People know the GOP is responsible for the shutdown. So the Dem Senators pulled out their big guns... and shot themselves in the foot.

Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

Walmart and McDonaldโ€™s are among the top employers of workers who rely on food stamps.

McDonald's CEO raked in $18.2M last year โ€” over 1,000x the company's median employee pay.

Walmart's CEO pocketed $27.4M โ€” 930x the company's median employee pay.

See the problem?

I'm not suggesting that people don't pay for health care either through taxes and/or premiums. In fact, as someone who isn't employed I purchase a full price plan through the market place. But at least I have access and can't be denied a health insurance plan.

"ACCESS: It's tied to your job, not guaranteed for all citizens." So you're suggesting a health plan that not only ties access to having a job but employers are not required to pay any portion of the costs. Why tie it to employment?

We need to decouple health insurance from employment! And, companies decide what percentage to pay??!! How is this any better than what we have now?

Today, the Republicans cut SNAP benefits AGAIN.

Our response? Organizing AND helping Wisconsinites who are facing hunger due to the GOP shutdown. Thank you to everyone who contributed. Let's keep it up.

The Trump administration spending ledger:

โœ… $40 billion for Argentina
โœ… $230 million for Trump's grievances against the Department of Justice
โœ… $300 million for a golden ballroom
โŒ $0 to save 42 million Americans from hunger
โŒ $0 to stop your health care costs from going up 30%

Hereโ€™s the original clip of Ronald Reagan from April 25, 1987, where he delivered a complete and total rebuke against tariffs. Trump's calling Reaganโ€™s words here โ€œFAKEโ€ and โ€œfraudulent.โ€ Theyโ€™re 100% real. And the original clip is actually far worse for Trump, as much is left out of the ad:

Trump's approval rating on the economy takes hit because of shutdown, inflation, CNBC survey finds Americans' views on the economy turned more negative in the third quarter with deepening concerns about jobs, inflation and the outlook.

A new poll shows Americans blame Trump and Republicans over Democrats for the shutdown 53%-37%. (Independents blame Trump by a nearly 3-to-1 margin, 58%-21%.).

ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

Iโ€™m mildly surprised that Republican voters and America Firsters have bought Scott Bessentโ€™s bullshit that American taxpayers arenโ€™t shipping billions to Argentina to bail out the massive personal investments of Bessentโ€™s friends. I guess loyalty to these crooks takes precedent.
