Allotment Cats

Colin's been giving me my meals behind my shed.
The problem is that when he calls my name, Maurine comes too.
Auntie Sammy is feeding him on her plot but he still wants to have extra food on my plot.
I just can't get used to him.
I'm not being anti-social am I?

I love going in Colin's car but I've never been in it when it's moving.
I think he's a bit worried I would distract him.
He's probably right!
I noticed that Janet has been going for walks with Colin.
I'd love to join them but I don't know if Janet would like that.
What do you think, shall I try?

Maurine comes inside the veranda sometimes.
He doesn't try to chase me, I think he is looking for extra food.
I was like him when I first arrived here.
Can you belive I used to eat THREE sachets for breakfast!

Uncle Andy came to see me in the veranda and made such a fuss of me!
He loves cats and he knows how to make us happy.
I've heard that Maurine, the new cat, has moved to his plot and is settling down well.

This is a very rare photo.
Auntie Rachel took it and apart from Betty and Colin she is the only human to ever come this close to me.
She comes to tidy up the Memorial Garden every week.
She seems very kind and I think I will get used to her. Maybe she will bring me some Dreamies next time.

I think that moving to Colin's plot was a good idea.
I keep him company in the Memorial Garden too.
Colin talks to me while he's working and even though he rambles on a bit I still like listening to him.
Sometimes he talks about his childhood in Sicily, I'll tell you about that another time.

I went inside the veranda yesterday - Amanda was there but she ignored me. I finished off her food for her.
I hope these messages aren't too boring, I just wanted to let you know how I am.

I've settled down really well. Sammy put an igloo next to her greenhouse and I've been sleeping there at night.
I think she will put it inside the shed soon.
She gives me food there but I am still going to Janet's plot and eating there as well.

(Amanda)
I don't know what's the matter with some humans.
They want to have a plot so they can grow food to eat but then they don't do any work on it and all that grows is grass and weeds.
It drives Betty mad.
Would it drive you mad too?
"Driving mad" is a funny expression isn't it?

I've also noticed that humans don't have patterns in their hair like us tabby cats do.
I think he would very handsome with a tabby beard.

I can't stop staring at Colin's hairy face.
It hasn't always been like this. He used to shave it all off but now that he's ancient he just lets it grow.
It's funny how the hair doesn't cover his whole face, like mine does.

Since I moved to Colin's plot I've noticed different things.
The Alexander Stadium is just behind the plot.
I like to go through the fence and just sit and watch what's going on.
I sit close to the fence so I can run back to the plot if I need to.
Life is never boring here.

One of my Followers lives in Japan and she told Betty about a bad situation there.
A lot of wild bears have started attacking humans.
Everyone is very worried about it.
Betty had never heard of this so she Googled it.
It is very frightening.
I wonder what can be done about it?

Auntie Pip came yesterday and took lots of photos of me.
I like this one but I never realised I had such massive eyes!
Betty says they are perfect and because I am such a nosey girl I never miss a thing.
I don't know if being nosey is a good thing but she said I mustn't over-think it.

I'm so glad I moved to Colin's plot. It's very interesting here.
I have my own shed just like I did on Ken's plot.
Betty says a change is as good as a rest and I think I know what she means. What do you think?

I'm so glad I moved to Colin's plot. I didn't realise how lonely I was before.
He comes every morning and after he's fed me he stays and does work on the plot. I think Maurine has been going to Sammy's plot for his meals. I think he will love it there.
We are both very happy cats.

I love having so many different places to sleep.
Most of them are nice and soft, apart from the scratchy-bed of course.
Betty thinks it's weird that I love the scratchy-bed.
I think she would love it too if she could find a human-size one.
What do you think?

Some followers came to visit and I actually stayed with them for the whole time they were there!
They were so nice and made such a fuss of me, I wasn't at all shy.
They brought some lovely treats for me and Janet and delicious biscuits for Betty and Colin.
I really hope they come again.

I might be moving - to a different plot.
Sammy loves cats and she wants me to start going to her plot for my meals. She is even going to put a bed there for me.
So, I've got a big decision to make.
Should I continue going to Janet's plot for my meals, or move to Sammy's plot?

Things have changed since Maurine arrived.
I used to take my time eating my food.
Now, I know he is watching me while I eat so I try to do it quickly and eat all of it.
I know this is a bit selfish of me, but Maurine has his own food and it isn't my fault if he's a quick eater.

The leaves are still dropping off the trees.
Some humans collect them to make a thing called 'leaf-mould'.
They put them in big bags and after a few months they change into compost. Compost is supposed to be very good for the soil, that's what Betty says.
Have you ever made leaf-mould?

I'm so happy - I found the perfect bed.
It's a mix of cardboard box and scratcy bed!
I usually jump out of normal beds when I see Betty but I was really enjoying this one and I couldn't be bothered to get out.
I love my Scratchy Box Bed!

More about Dorothy: I've heard that Robert really loved her but she never encouraged him.
Betty says she was a real character and will never be forgotten.

(Amanda)
It's 3 years today since Dorothy went to 🌈.
I never met her but I've heard a lot about her.
She was born at the allotments and was very naughty when she was young. So naughty that Betty named her 'Psycho'.
She calmed down a lot as she got older and so her name was changed to Dorothy.

My shed has a thing called a 'cat flap' but I haven't learned how to use it yet.
Do you think cat flaps are a good idea?

I'm glad I moved to Colin's plot. I like watching him while he works.
He understands that I'm not like Amanda and I don't need him to give me a fuss every minute.
Sometimes he sits with me while I eat my meals and I like that.

Well, as much as Cats like Christmas Day (Turkey giblets!), we know they always prefer "Boxing Day"... 😺😸😹

It doesn't matter how many beds I've got - my favourite is always a cardboard box!
Betty put a cushion and blanket in this one and it was perfect.
I've heard that many cats prefer boxes too.

When I moved to Colin's shed I thought I wouldn't see Maurine any more.
I was wrong.
He soon found out and now he comes for his meals there.
I'm getting used to him so long as he doesn't come close to me.
He eats really quickly and then watches me eat.
I suppose I'll get used to it in time.
