I wish people in this country would be honest about the country.

Neoliberals cannot counter fascism because actually countering fascism would put their power, prestige and money at risk as fully dealing with the threat of fascism and white power is a threat to the entire system of governance in most western countries

It's not mutual aid because that person's not part of your community apparently even though you see them online, but why don't people get that we must expand our notion of community & get out of who white capitalism says is it is even to band together to get through our fascist predicament.

It’s about creating community, the kind of community you want to see. Do you want to live in a community where everyone is only interested in themselves, or one that helps its members?

I am a little curious about this get rich thing, cause we could really use some funding. There is a lot more need in my community than we as a small group can possibly address. That doesn’t stop us from trying to, but resources are always needed.

It’s a way to be an active part of solutions rather than problems. It takes you away from your comfortable little bubble and into the lives of others. Mutual Aid is an opportunity to help your neighbors and get some perspective on what’s really important at the same time.

A lot of the blame here falls on the Democratic Party, which is (to use a technical term) mad up of pathetic lily-livered cowards who tremble uncontrollably in fear at the idea of any kind of public confrontation with the Trump administration on any issue beyond a self-selected Dull Policy Dispute.

The reason the ICE videos aren’t producing a backlash of that scale (yet) is that our institutional elites are deeply committed to ignoring them, which both reduces their spread and reduces the sense that this is something important we SHOULD be freaking out about.

This is what we need in every city, in every state! We need leaders that protect the most vulnerable in society instead of the greedy self serving pieces of garbage that always seem to float to the top.

My tenets:

1) no one is free until we're all free

2) revolution requiring vulnerable members of society be disposable just to GET to the cishet white oligarchs you really want to target Feels Bad, Actually

3) be clear if you are trying to change a mind OR score points when you engage

One more thing: people are homeless because they have been deprived of housing.

You solve homelessness with homes.

A great way to turn the temp down here as @jay.bsky.team @pfrazee.com and @aaron.bsky.team want would be to stop communicating site policies and practices with individual users or on their timelines and hire a comms person who is a professional communicator to do all the front facing interaction.

Y'all who keep lecturing protesters to "not give them an excuse" need to pause for a minute. Imagine yourself telling a DV victim, "Be sure not to mouth off or make any mistakes so he won't hit you. Don't give him an excuse! It's what he wants!" That's what you fools sound like.

No real beef with the gist of this, but I am so, so sick of tongue-clucking about “division.” We have a president waging a “war within” (his own words!) against domestic urban populations. That had damn well better be divisive.

Cities with high “crime rates” are resource deprived cities populated by marginalized communities. They’re often poor, have limited access to social safety nets, and are over-policed.

If Dems win in 2026, we need hearings to publicize the abuses by federal law enforcement. Then pass a bill creating a path to sue for those abuses. Trump will veto it. Let him. Let the public see these videos & hear from victims, & then learn there's no way to hold the abusive officers accountable.
