i empathize with the fear, i understand how and why it makes people act the way people do. though i am also, admittedly, a bit resentful. because these kinds of people, for years, always waving off the fears and anxieites of the groups they're telling NOW to promise a vote to relieve THEIR fear.

The media talks about us in very dehumanizing ways, constantly. This is a situation the right has encouraged but "liberal" and "centrist" media has been complicit with, to a great degree.

It's not really a distraction strategy. They enjoy doing this. What lots of people are seeing as distraction from the files is just them launching as many attacks on people they hate from as many angles as they can. Don't really appreciate degradation of civil rights being called just a distraction.
