Game was built on a shoestring budget and Jagex slowly built on it over the years.

Blizzard was helped with the fact they were the top PC game developer with three well established franchises. Still they went about WoW the right way with focusing on a good base

Runescape is a good example for new studios 1/2

What made Elite Dangerous work imo is the kickstarter was a proof of concept and it came out in a year and a half after the Kickstarter and the team built from there.

Ashes of Creation promised too much, spent too much and was destined for failure imho

Who would have thought what began as a university project by Andrew Gower and his brothers Paul and Ian would become an icon of British pop culture? That's right. RuneScape turns 25 today.

Happy 25th Anniversary, RuneScape! Here's to another 25 years of adventures in Gielinor!

Ashes of Creation is yet another lesson of not making overly ambitious games at launch, especially MMO's

Focus on a solid base gameplay wise and release it, the magic of a MMO is you can grow it over time

(Feel free to discuss and share others in replies. You can copy the names from ALT Text.)

Synfig Studio: Best for vector-based 2D animation with bone rigging, tweening, and automatic in-betweening, making it very similar to Flash/Animate.

OpenToonz: A professional 2D animation package used in industry, excellent for traditional (hand-drawn) and digital animation with advanced effects.

Toon Boom Harmony: A professional-grade, paid alternative often used in the industry.

Krita: Primarily a painting app, but offers powerful frame-by-frame animation tools suitable for 2D animators.

Wick Editor: Free, browser-based (or desktop) tool ideal for beginners and web-based animations.

Pencil2D: A simple, intuitive, lightweight tool for traditional 2D animation.

Blender: While a 3D suite, it includes the "Grease Pencil" tool, which is highly powerful for 2D animation.

enve: An open-source 2D tool aimed at vector and raster animation.

To folks begrudgingly staying on bug-ridden error-prone bloated Windows bc you use Adobe products... I guess for many of you, that'll no longer be a factor soon.

Between Microslop's gradual train-wreck & Adobe killing Animate, all the more reason to escape to Linux.

Something i think Linux distros should consider is offering physical copies of Linux for sell. Would be a cool collection item to support projects.

And I think seeing it on the shelf in stores would be good exposure for potential new users shopping.

One of the biggest issues plaguing AAA development is the idea every game needs follow set rules so everyone can enjoy them.

Gaming is the only artistic medium where a non significant amount of people believe older art has lesser artistic value

No other medium has this problem to the same degree

a cartoon character says " and knowing is half the battle " Alt: a cartoon character says " and knowing is half the battle "

This is aimed towards a specifc PS1 emulation developer with a hate boner towards Android and Linux

You can't magically change your GPL license unless every contributor agrees or you remove all of their source code.

Ive seen this come up and want to address it regarding the EU using Fedora Linux.

Red Hat and IBM own the Fedora name but not the code in any way, various non American forks use Fedora as a base.

Welcome! And perfect time to switch with the strides being made with Linux lately including Photoshop being able to run

31.01.2026 16:39 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yeah its Arch based but easier to install

31.01.2026 16:34 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It's not American either, that is not how open source works

30.01.2026 17:21 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Plus Red Hat/IBM needs Fedora more than Fedora needs Red Hat because Fedora essentially is a testing ground for RHEL

30.01.2026 16:57 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

That's not how Open Source works, Red Hat/IBM do not "own" Fedora, Fedora is a community and the code can be forked by anyone

There's various non American distros that are Fedora based. Red Hat own the Fedora name but nothing more.

Windows 11 is a lost cause, the problems that need fixing go against the design philosophy of Windows 11.

Best case scenario is a slightly less intrusive Windows 12 that doesn't brick your computer every update

If they are earnest in rebuilding trust then they would make Copilot optional on install and remove the TPM 2.0 requirement, that would be a good first step

When troubleshooting a problem with your computer if you get frustrated it is best to just turn it off and decompress

Forcing the issue will only make it worse as youre not thinking logically (learned the hard way many times)

Doesn't the Lead Developer AKA Linus choose the maintainers?

Either way the head of the Linux kernel is the one area that should be a dictatorship to some degree imo

I really hope Linus is the one who chooses his successor and it doesn't go to a committee system

The latter increases the odds of big money benefactors influencing decisions and killing the spirit of Linux
