A week ago, we published this statement by the Greater Manchester Asylum Hotels Group. The response has been overwhelming. The group has had many messages of support from our local area and beyond, and people have been inspired to share the message far and wide in their own communities.

Families accuse care home of 'neglect' and 'cruelty' after secret filming A BBC Disclosure reporter saw vulnerable elderly people left sitting alone for hours in urine-soaked clothes.

In a corporate owned care home, charging ยฃ1,800 a week.

Residents face neglect/cruelty.

Left in urine-soaked clothes, wet bedsheets, calls for help ignored, not showered for weeks, excrement in corridors, staff shortages.

Cruelty is the norm when profits come before people.

Say it again, and again, and again. They are not "illegal immigrants".

This legally trumps all arguments of โ€œbut they arrived by illegal meansโ€. Thatโ€™s just a fact. Thatโ€™s why you donโ€™t see asylum seekers arrested & charged. Our MSM must do better.

If we're going to have an honours system that is open to the whole community - in which we thank people, collectively, for service to the public - we can't keep demanding that they pass a loyalty test to a bygone empire.

At least give a choice between "Empire" & "Excellence". It's such an easy fix.
