5/ It's interesting to compare the d = 0.07 effect we found with adults vs. d = 0.30 with college students. I wonder whether there an age interaction here (that would be crazy hard to detect) or if it's something else.

In any case, we want to do more stepped care work with SSIs as step 1!

This is a figure that shows changes in depression scores on the PHQ9 questionnaire which ranges from 0 - 27. The COMET-SSI treatment beat an enhanced attention control (EAC). the differences start at week 2 and become pronounced and significant at weeks 4 and 8 post-intervention

4/ We find small (d~0.30) effects on depression and anxiety (see below). The effects on positive emotions and well-being are smaller and not significant at this N but they're in the expected direction. The results were not sensitive to how we handled missing data.

3/ In this study, we used a waiting list+attention control, a very weak control but appropriate given what we know about this SSI plus the null findings. We randomized students to complete more questionnaires to match intervention time OR the COMET SSI.

I want to make the "Lorenzo-Luaces" fellowship but the only requirement is you have a bad attitude that you refuse to change at least in the next 5 yrs

Women remain underrepresented in leadership, particularly in traditionally masculine work settings. At the same time, the visibility of this imbalance has led to growing calls for diversifying leadership. This research examines how both men and women contribute to the preservation or disruption of gender inequality in masculine organizational contexts. Men remain the gatekeepers of changeโ€”deciding who rises to the top and under what conditionsโ€”while women face the strategic dilemma of fitting in by downplaying inequality (supporting the status quo, sometimes called โ€˜queen bee behaviourโ€™) or โ€˜rocking the boatโ€™ by advocating social change (challenging the status quo). Across five experimental studies (totalย Nโ€‰=โ€‰887), we examined how evaluators assessed male and female leadership candidates who either supported or challenged the status quo. Results revealed that although men favoured female over male candidates, they consistently preferred women who reinforced the status quo over those who advocated equality. By contrast, male candidates who supported the status quo were penalized, and female evaluators showed no such preferences. These findings highlight subtle mechanisms through which gendered power dynamics are maintained, underscoring both the strategic trade-offs women must navigate to advance and the conditional nature of men's support for gender equality.

Women Leaders

"Women are expected to promote gender equality and show communal behaviour, yet those who do so...are less likely to be selected for leadership."

Derks et al. (2026). Don't rock the boat! Do men prefer women leaders who support the status quo?

Itโ€™s totally possible to comprehend the promise of LLMs (e.g., I use them in my research) without buying into the hype. I also suspect in research weโ€™re seeing enormous publication bias where people are trying stuff with LLMs but itโ€™s not working so itโ€™s not being reported

Also how is a 4-day week/work-life balance hurting anyone? The three problems here are (1) fascism, (2) that Democrats are not actually about progressivism, and (3) that they have also not taken the rise of fascism seriously. You could take it seriously AND promote better standards of living

LUMA Energy responds to Bad Bunnyโ€™s performance amid criticism over PR blackouts Bad Bunny alluded to Puerto Ricoโ€™s struggles with blackouts during his Super Bowl performance, prompting the territoryโ€™s energy provider to respond.

Blaming this on solar panels and the previous administrations is ridiculous. Those *are* the roots and consequences of the problems. Many people (e.g., my mom) turned to solar out of desperation not environmentalism. Itโ€™s been almost 9 years since Maria.
