The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner. Bad. Just bad. Only recommend if you have to kill time and do not have anything else to do so. A crucial lack of research (though the author proclaimed otherwise). I could write a novel about everything wrong, boring and superflouous in this one.

Witness, Stories, by Jamel Brinkley was nice! A collection of contemporary shot stories set in New York, some were really touching. Nicely writen too. I recommend!

I read the second book of the shepherd king duology. It was an enjoyable read, not without flaws, but overall entertaining, and I liked the magic system/lore.

The Dark Window is what I would expect from an "adult fantasy with romance" (yes, I am still salty). If the romance did not hook me (it is a me-problem, that one), the lore and card-system were interesting and I enjoyed my time with it. Looking foward to the second book! It's a duology.

My first book for february! After the slog that was Daughter of the Moon, I greatly enjoyed Mexican Gothic. Noemi, at least, was a real character, annyoing as she may be. It's a pretty slow burn story with a lot classic horror elements and tropes, and I happen to like that. Francis was sweet.

I've finished this book some time ago. It was sold as an adult high fantasy, and this is a total lie. It's for teenagers at best, with very bland characters, the most annoying Mary Sue as main character, and everything was very superficial. The chinese myths and legends cannot shine through

Second book! The Whale at the End of the World! I really loved this one, such a charming read! Definitely not what I expected when I started.

My first book is Chris Vuklisevic's "Du Thé pour les Fantômes" (Tea for the ghosts), and I didn't like it. The writing was beautiful, but tiresome over several hundred pages and the story it tried to tell didn't grap me, sadly.

New year, new reading challenge! I've enjoyed last year even though I was a few books short, but let's do it again shall we? 50 books in 2025 again! I'll to a thread.

Recently I remembered an indie adventure point&click game called Tangle Tower. It was absolutely charming. The voice actors did a genius work and carried the game, the music is great and the art direction stellar. It is on the shorter side though. Looking forward to the next Detective Grimoire game!

Well, I never updated this! More than a game, I really enjoy the series as a whole, my favorite game series overall! Yakuza/Lika a dragon, are always very fun, be it the mini-games or the soap opera drama in the stories! Yall need to play them! Picture from Yakuza 0 because I had them on hand.

So, I had a giftcard fir my bookshop and I bought a bunch of books. "The book that wouldn't burn" was interesting and pleasant though I'm not sure I am that fond of it after finishing it, but it has a lot of interesting stuff going on. I'll read the other two books in the trilogie too!

And last one for this update: Kai Meyer again. A nice "historical" thriller for the nights you don't have that much brainpower left. The story is kinda hit and miss, but Meyer writes well, making it entertaining.

Obligatory "I read a bunch of short stories from Le Guin again" post, this time featuring:

Again, it is Ursula le Guin. You cannot go wrong with her.

Many years ago (like 10 or more) I got my hand on a bunch of Ralf Isau books for very cheap, end of stock and such. I never read this one though since it is for a very young audience. I am now old and I do not care anymore about target audiences… nice quick read, keeping the target audience in mind

Another non fiction book, yes there is a theme this year. It was a very interesting read, I recommend reading this together with Said I posted before!

I also forgot to post a 3 volume comic series I read a while ago. A french comic called Bichon! It's about a small boy who likes "girl" things, narrated with a bunch of short stories/sketched. Wholesomeness score is 20/10

The second Six of Crows book was very nice. I enjoyed it. It's a good read for some good time! Again nothing groundbreaking but honestly well done for what it wants to be.

I haven't posted here for a while. While everyone was playing the Elden Ring DLC, I had the best time on Minishoot' Adventures! It mixes Zelda with Shmup, which is a daring but very fun fusion that works extremely well. Contenter for game of the year for me! Highly recommend
