Dr. Wesley nails it:
"If there’s a problem, it’s not that judges exist. It’s that populists don’t like being told “no.”"
We don't elect kings/queens.
The same system that gives power to Premiers gives it to our courts to protect us.
Democracy isn’t mob rule.
And the UCP don't like that. #ableg

Bus priority infrastructure in Asian cities always stuns me. Our electric bus (that runs every 10 minutes) is speeding down a center running bus lane.
It’s a ~40 minute ride to dinner and I’m seriously enjoying it.

The ‘New’ Solution for the N.Y.C. Housing Crisis: Single-Room Apartments
Relegalize SROs. Relegalize single stair buildings to enable larger, family sized homes. Legalize townhomes everywhere. Legalize ADUs everywhere. Legalize apartment buildings in more places. Yes to all the homes.

Picture of multi-modal street
Here’s something that’s really important for everyone to understand.
If we design our cities just for cars, they fail everyone, including drivers.
If we design our cities with many great CHOICES in how to get around, they work better for everyone, including drivers.
Spread the word.

Annex businesses tell Ford to back off Bloor bike lanes
Stores in the Annex say the Bloor bike lanes have been a big boost to business. As Michelle Mackey reports, the neighborhood's BIA wants the province to back off its new bill that could see the lanes ...
WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually can’t make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.
Safe bike-lanes mean business.

I've been to all 20, not just airports. Driven Route 66 from beginning to end. Visited every state but Hawaii, but I won't be crossing that off anytime soon, or maybe ever. To be fair, I've also driven across Canada twice and have been to every province and territory except Nunavut.

Green tram tracks, like this one I saw in Rotterdam today, just look so much better, but they also make you feel you're in a much calmer space.

What strikes me the most during a Friday evening rush hour in Delft Netherlands is just how pleasant the noises are compared to the loud cars and motorcycles back home. You can actually hear people talking, birds chirping, and bikes rhythmically wheeling over the cobblestones. Much less stressful!!

This iconic Fabian Todorovic cartoon is still one of the best I’ve seen at illustrating the remarkable amount of space we surrender to cars, leaving little space left for everyone and everything else. The text added later makes the bonus point that many drivers still manage to complain about it.

Canadian here. I love the United States. I have visited every state and capitol except Hawaii. I have driven Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica. I usually make at least one trip every year to or through the U.S. But I will not be doing so for the foreseeable future. It's not worth all the risks!

If we’re being honest, the biggest threat to urban livability isn’t density or height. It’s the noise, danger, pollution, and wasted space that comes from prioritizing cars above all other modes of transport.

The report shows this was a government-wide, systemic refusal to process FOIP requests. It's a damning indictment of the UCP's extreme culture of secrecy. And the UCP is further reducing FOIP access, which is yet another red flag re: growing authoritarianism.

Without popular support for separation, she has seriously limited options. But Moscrop is exactly right: this is live ammo-stuff now, the way Brexit was, the way Trump as a candidate was. She is reckless, and part of a political movement of delusion and dishonesty. Very dangerous

The day after the federal election, Danielle Smith introduced sweeping changes to Alberta’s election laws.
She says these changes will make elections more fair.
False.
These are Trump tactics that will do exactly the opposite.
Get loud and stay loud, Alberta.
