I used to pity people who have to put others down to feel good about themselves. Now, I save my pity for people who deserve it and avoid pick-mes at all costs.

One of my early office jobs was a receptionist for a door manufacturing company. My very first task? Phone all the women who didn't get the job.
That was my sign to walk away and never look back. I was a people-pleasing 22yo, tho, so it took 3 more months.

My favorite people are the ones who receive the message the first time it's given, in this case, the boyfriend.
Too many people expect endless chances to be a terrible person. I think 2020 taught of lot of us that life is too short for that mess.

Also, nobody is interested in your crusty version of chivalry and empty promises to provide and protect. You'd "provide" no matter what, since you also want to not starve. And you vote against women's rights, so you don't protect. #next

I feel ya. But I just realized something:
We ignored our very real issues - racism, sexism, and more - for 250 years. We spent decades crippling education and allowing hateful people to spew lies with impunity.
This will hurt for a while because it took two centuries to come to a head.

I worked at ADE when the voucher scam was first getting off the ground. In a building with HUNDREDS of retired educators, not one was willing to work on that initiative. Former Superintendent Huppenthal (remember him?!) had to bring in poli-sci majors from ASU to intern on it.

Our Microsoft 365 membership expires this month. We chose to not renew (not supporting any of these predator oligarchs) and have found what seems to be a decent alternative, for anyone interested:

It's free, and very similar to earlier versions of MS Office.
