It is genuinely incredible to me how much evidence there is to support investing in the public good and how much animus there is to do this simple, effective thing.

πŸ—½πŸŽ Chi OssΓ©, Gen Z activist and council member in Brooklyn, has filed paperwork to run in the 2026 Democratic primary against the pro-Israel US House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, the longtime incumbent in New York’s 8th District.

OssΓ© has been one of the city’s youngest and most outspoken elected officials on Gaza. Earlier this year he wrote on X: β€œIsrael is a terror state. Shame on every single person who is continuing to defend the ongoing genocide…” He also helped push New York City’s ceasefire resolution.

Jeffries has cast himself as one of Congress’s strongest defenders of Israel throughout a genocide that produced months of live-streamed atrocities, a UN-declared famine, and the killing of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians. He has opposed ceasefire measures and efforts to restrict US arms transfers. Jeffries spoke at the β€œMarch for Israel” rally calling US support β€œironclad,” and his campaigns have received major backing from pro-Israel political PACs and donors.

The race sets up a generational and ideological fight over Gaza, US foreign policy, and the future direction of the Democratic Party β€” in New York and beyond.

Tesla employees passed around photos of the insides of customers' garages, footage of what they were doing inside/near their cars. The cars were OFF at the time, a nude Tesla driver walking past their car in the privacy of their own garage became a Tesla office meme

I remember feeling slightly confused when I found myself having to defend the movie. Its not perfect, but it is so interesting I get caught up in watching it every its on.

PLEASE! We done did it, we explored grief in horror, everybody! Some of it was good, great, and fucking bad, but I would love to see some new leads and see where we can go before we circle back to it.

There is an untapped well of potential for horror just sitting around, would love to see more.

Groaned at the baby gargoyle, it undercut what was a solid cold open. Also the military subplot also feels intensely stupid.

I have A LOT to say about the movies (especially chapter 2), but yeah, seemed they forwent the 'city enables the abuse of children' and flattened it to G R I E F and clown!

Getting around to watching It: Welcome to Derry and its...better than chapter 2. Like it is trying to recreate that Stephen King feel, which I can appreciate the attempt, but I think it might continue to miss the point the same way the newest movies did.

Gonna keep an eye on it.

every few years it's revealed that the NYT was sitting on information about some horrific thing that public knowledge of would have changed the country's course and for some reason a ton of people still give them money. you can play those games on other sites

Well you see Billy, a 50 year mortgage only benefits banks, builders, and investors. It fucks the average person on housing.

And a $2,000 stimulus check that is a 'tariff rebate' is like a thief stealing your car, but tossing the change from the change cup as they speed off.

In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.

KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.

His reply was a doozy.

For me it was "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" by Carson McCullers, I hadn't seen anything nail people's inherent struggle to communicate with one another quite as well as it did. I had read plenty of beautiful books, but rarely one that felt like it was made for me.

When companies think they can fire people to stop unionization efforts and try to get away with it, they teach the workers one of two things:

1. Don't unionize, or else you'll be fired.
2. Unionize even harder and take bigger, more powerful actions together.

I know which takeaway I've learned.

The surrender caucus secured yes votes from Democrats who aren't facing re-election this cycle, but four of them have Democratic governors who can pick their replacement.

If you live in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Maine or Virginia this is an easy and effective way to make your anger clear.

Democrats negotiated a plan where a 8 completely safe dems would vote to open and the rest can post β€œi voted no” thats what all the negotiations were about: how they would explain the optics of the loss. it was never about saving healthcare

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will
