It is genuinely incredible to me how much evidence there is to support investing in the public good and how much animus there is to do this simple, effective thing.

OssΓ© has been one of the cityβs youngest and most outspoken elected officials on Gaza. Earlier this year he wrote on X: βIsrael is a terror state. Shame on every single person who is continuing to defend the ongoing genocideβ¦β He also helped push New York Cityβs ceasefire resolution. Jeffries has cast himself as one of Congressβs strongest defenders of Israel throughout a genocide that produced months of live-streamed atrocities, a UN-declared famine, and the killing of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians. He has opposed ceasefire measures and efforts to restrict US arms transfers. Jeffries spoke at the βMarch for Israelβ rally calling US support βironclad,β and his campaigns have received major backing from pro-Israel political PACs and donors. The race sets up a generational and ideological fight over Gaza, US foreign policy, and the future direction of the Democratic Party β in New York and beyond.

There is an untapped well of potential for horror just sitting around, would love to see more.
Groaned at the baby gargoyle, it undercut what was a solid cold open. Also the military subplot also feels intensely stupid.
I have A LOT to say about the movies (especially chapter 2), but yeah, seemed they forwent the 'city enables the abuse of children' and flattened it to G R I E F and clown!
Getting around to watching It: Welcome to Derry and its...better than chapter 2. Like it is trying to recreate that Stephen King feel, which I can appreciate the attempt, but I think it might continue to miss the point the same way the newest movies did.
Gonna keep an eye on it.

In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.
KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.
His reply was a doozy.
For me it was "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" by Carson McCullers, I hadn't seen anything nail people's inherent struggle to communicate with one another quite as well as it did. I had read plenty of beautiful books, but rarely one that felt like it was made for me.

1. Don't unionize, or else you'll be fired.
2. Unionize even harder and take bigger, more powerful actions together.
I know which takeaway I've learned.
The surrender caucus secured yes votes from Democrats who aren't facing re-election this cycle, but four of them have Democratic governors who can pick their replacement.
