Being 42 is weird. It's like all my nostalgia was resold to me in my 20s and 30s leaving me with...nothing. Having zero nostalgia is a weird feeling that I forget to notice...like how quiet the bugs have gotten in the summer.

I did some garden clearing this weekend. Coneflower stalks have cut and stacked together on top of drop seed clippings along our fenceline where they can provide shelter for insect eggs and a roof for small mammals to burrow under.

I remembered the goldfinches as I cut the stalks.
