.. If you're going to break manifesto pledges on grounds of changed world circumstances, have the guts to raise taxes on the richest, showing commitment to reducing inequality at the same time.

No "hard choices" involved in cutting aid. No political constituency, soft target. Only poor and voiceless suffer...and UKs reputation for having a moral and empathetic view of the world and signalling that through choice to keep providing support to most vulnerable...

Yes, and anticipating, or getting ready for, opportunities is the key, even though they may be unknowable.
