Special Report: How Trumpβs crackdown on law firms is undermining legal defenses for the vulnerable β Reuters
Interviews with over 60 lawyers and 30 nonprofits show legal aid groups now have fewer resources to defend the vulnerable.
Iβve never paid much attention to lawyers but right now, people who understand how the law are the offense and defense power protecting democracy.
Attacking law firms publicly and privately prevents everyday citizens from engaging in their basic constitutional rights

Itβs beenβI donβt really have to say it, youβve been experiencing the same 2025 that I have.

Trump fires BLS commissioner after weak jobs report
Without evidence, Trump called the data "rigged" and implied that BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer manipulated the numbers "for political purposes."
It is seriously dangerous territory when Trump fires anyone who doesn't cook the books for him.
The entire economy hinges on the accurate, nonpartisan data we get from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Republicans need to join us in fighting to protect the integrity of BLS.

On Capitol Hill, I joined Sen. Bill Nelson @gretchentg.bsky.social @adamconner.bsky.social @cdelawalla.bsky.social to sound the alarm about the systematic dismantling of the US research infrastructure. The question isn't whether we can afford to invest in research. It's whether we can afford not to.

Texas Lawmakers Largely Ignored Recommendations Aimed at Helping Rural Areas Like Kerr County Prepare for Flooding
Texas lawmakersβ inaction on flood prevention often hits rural and economically disadvantaged communities the hardest, experts said.
Last year, Texas published its first-ever statewide flood response plan. This year the state's legislature ignored the plan. Instead, they voted to spend $51 billion to maintain and provide new property tax cuts. @propublica.org www.propublica.org/article/texa...
