We're supposed to approve of this? The "I support ICE" guy might be reprehensible. But he has a First Amendment right to say what he said. Hasn't the MN experience taught us that we don't need to do this sort of thing? We can do better than the law of the jungle.

I remain troubled by the tiny bit of comment, re murders of R Good and A Pretti, about how there was in neither case an effort to save their lives if poss; in fact, offered efforts were resisted. And at the House Epstein hearing, AG Bondi never once turned to look at survivors. Not prolife, inhuman

I'd like this to become more than just one more exhibit in the Hall of Shame for the irony-free GOP. At some point, may there be a criminal accounting for people like Rep. Jordan and their acts on 1/6/21. At trial, this bit of video would come in as evidence, as it is a statement against interest.

Katie Phang seems to me the epitome of one whose personal and family experience have led her to love all that is good about America, and pledge to defend it (sort of like the oath of an officeholder). She won't listen to the cynics who tell her that this is just a pipe dream; she'll call fascism out

I'd feel better about the manosphere if I'd get some indication that they could/will move on to, "Gosh, if Trump lied to us about Epstein, what else might he be lying about?" Answers are not hard to find. Then have this affect whom they'll support in the election, and why. That would be apt penance.

Two bits of injustice. First: what strength the economy is showing is due to programs set in place under Biden, limited, shamefully, but Manchin and Sinema, to remove provisions that would have helped consumers pre-'24 election. Second: anti-immigrant acts hurt our economic future deeply.

I don't see it in the piece, but I think career prosecutors refused to bring these cases (they should've refused). Huge damage is being done by resentment against "elites". Do people want mediocrity in government/education? They'd complain about it even in their sports teams. Trump drags us down.

Maybe bad news: suburban disapproval of T might increase MN urban/rural divide. I grew up in a small town, live in a suburb, and lament this. Walz is 50/50, maybe good news for Dems; did ICE invasion replace fraud as # 1 issue? Also, 16 % didn't vote in '24; 1/2 of them, doing it over, would vote.

Out of all the noise, I hope it is at least clear to all that AG Bondi doesn't represent the cause of "justice", the point of even the name DoJ. Having survivors in the room should drive home that point. And their experience is breaking through to at least some MAGA (Massie); will that number grow?

11.02.2026 20:46 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Good news, OK. BUT: this is a very low standard for good news. There was still a massive waste of DoJ and court resources, and large (unnecessary!) legal fees for the prosecution's targets. Solid DoJ career attorneys have resigned and its court credibility is lessened, which damages worthy efforts.

It's useful to remember that, not only is (reporting on) Wall Street not Bondi's job, it's not even the economy. CNBC had a segment today on the ADP jobs numbers, during which Santelli, who should know better, put on a hat bragging about the Dow. Meanwhile, lower-income-earners drown in debt.

Thank you. One other thing: the state informs DHS of prisoners that are subject to deportation before any release. No one wants these criminals residing among us. MN works with DHS, at least as long as it is healthy. But DHS is not healthy now, sadly typical of the Trump administration.

11.02.2026 00:58 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh, my, yet another thing. DHS lobbed claims and charges re MN "failure" to cooperate; these were shown to be somewhere between badly distorted and completely false. I'll be watching and canvassing to see if all this affects political balance in St. Paul (close) and Congress (MN is 4 to 4 now).

I was upset, even before this apparent news, that growth in our economy depends to a significant extent on people spending beyond their means, via credit cards and the like. Now we're not even seeing the growth. So how does this fit with WH predictions of a 2026 economic boom?

Maybe I'm too easily irritated, but I hate language like this. The stock market doesn't "need" anything. It's not human. One of the major faults in American capitalism is that we treat finance as having human characteristics. I'd prefer that we treat actual humans better.

I'd like to be more appreciative of GOP folks waking up to things like this (and boy, are there others). But I wish Sen. Lummis would help a bit. Something as simple as, "Wow, sorry I took so long to catch on." Is that too hard now for a person in elective office?

10.02.2026 20:54 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Gosh, ICE agents, armed and feeling "unsafe". What could go wrong?

I'd like to further unpack even this stunning math. There is nothing magical about calling someone a "suspected" gang member. How many of these "suspects" turn out to be real gang members? And beyond this, any criminal activity? Labels are seductive but potentially misleading.

10.02.2026 20:29 β€” πŸ‘ 34    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Well, he "suspects", so there must be a real problem, right? What's that -- evidence? There must be evidence? Oh, how very old-fashioned.

10.02.2026 20:12 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Or, um, we might stop deporting people, at least until after they've had their day in court.

Melania, sadly, provokes me (cogito ergo irritatum?). All the links re the film include a glamorous photo of M. I worry that these images might seduce our minds. Even while text engages the rational mind w film info, the siren image also speaks: My, how elegant M is (worse, & I want this, too).

Gosh, that Andrew -- prince of a guy. Huh, what's that you say? Not a prince any longer? I wonder why.

Um, this sounds like possible crime. Will/can there be prosecution? (I suppose it might have to wait till '29.)

Isn't the operative question, Are FARMERS seeing the scam yet? I never did get the attraction, but it should be getting ever harder for them. I hope that a few of them get interviewed.

Hey, wait: if Johnson is in charge of the folks who spend their time blocking votes, does that make him a ... blockhead?

Gosh: Trump, the savior of Canada. Who'd have thought? Well, I guess no one. How soon until we get a president whose communications are worth our thoughts and responses?

Good point, but T's acts against Venezuela, even before kidnapping its head of state, are actual uses of, not just threats to use, force. I'm curious about whether and when it might become unsafe for this international criminal to travel. Take up that question, sir. (I can't get used to this world.)

Thanks for this(?). I'm tempted to admire the audacity of the projection. Trump, fixing the Biden chaos? But I recover quickly, when I realize that emails like this are plumb the depths of the GOP's (willful?) deception. It seems like Trump is only a Big Brother wannabe -- which is scary enough.

10.02.2026 01:07 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh, my. There are many reasons to despise Musk. Dreaming of space exploration is not one, at least for me. I worry more that the GOP is anti-science. Let's have the right fights.

It seems like Speaker Johnson does more blocking of action than actually doing anything. I miss the days when Pelosi had Democrats passing legislation, despite narrow majorities. Does anyone get excited by a slogan like, "GOP: doing less for you."?
