Everton, cricket, music and not a lot in between. Tonight my baby and me we’re gonna ride to the sea and wash these sins off our hands.

It’s gonna be closer than I thought.
Yes, it’s becoming a habit!
I did use your team name acronym when I saw it.
Not holding out much hope tbh, KDB likely to be the differentiator, not to mention Isak as Captain.
Go well 👍
Lots of positive memories of Goodison Derbies which started for me at the Alan Ball Cup game in ‘67, in the UB with my Dad and Uncle.
Let’s get stuck into these one last time at Goodison, not least for all of those Blues who went before us.
Up the Tricky Toffees!

Not sure why so many write Cup games off as irrelevant when they’re our only hope of a trophy.
Disappointed to go out but fair play to Bournemouth. For them to assemble a squad as good as that on 11k home gates and no Corporate is a testimony to good management and recruitment.

It’s not taken Moyes long to work out a shape and tactics that fit with the players he’s inherited.
It also shines a spotlight on the approach of his predecessor, who had one way of playing irrespective of the opposition.
3 wins on the bounce takes the pressure off any knee jerk transfers.

It’s early days but the approach from the two Managers is like night and day.
Moyes has immediately instilled a positive mind set in to the players and tangibly put trust in players, such as O’Brien, who Dyche threw under the bus and is getting the right response.
Steps in the right direction.
Davey Moyes doing what Davey Moyes does.
Put his trust in O’Brien and playing a shape that suits the players he inherited.
Seeing the game out and keeping a clean sheet away from home will be a massive confidence boost for the team.
Another step in the right direction.

Yep, playing higher up the pitch, moving the ball quicker on the floor and through midfield, not being afraid of receiving the ball and getting more support around the front man.
Simple changes but the players look to have bought in to it quickly and wins will build confidence.
Only one game and we’ll get a better feel for Moyes’ influence after a few more but that was night and day compared to the football under Dyche, and with the same players.
We bottled the last 15 mins which flattered Spurs, but finally we’re moving in the right direction.

It’s Retro Day at Goodison and I’m looking forward to an old school David Moyes team performance and a cheeky one-nil win.
Up the Back to the Future Toffees!

Yeah, I hear you. It’s certainly a more passive platform with not a great deal of interaction.
Moyesy will sort things out and we can then take a hard look at things in the summer and rebuild from there.
Nice one Scribbs, good to see you in the clear blue sky, hopefully the storm clouds are lifting with our beloved Toffs.
Thanks for the mention 👍
The Dyche statement was an appropriate full stop before we embark on Moyes 2.0.
His tenure will likely go down as the Everton curate’s egg.
Credit is due for keeping us afloat when the turmoil was going on behind the scenes but this season weighs heavy in the debit column.

Just digital Bob, didn’t see an option for a physical card.
Having managed to navigate my way through to the check-out I didn’t fancy chancing my luck trying to find an option for it!
After over two decades in the Park End in the words of Bob Dylan ‘the times they are a-changin’.
It was wrench to give up a behind the goal view and ignore my usual mantra of ‘west is best, east is least’ but…
Up the Lower East Stand da’s.
He coined that phrase about Spurs at Chelsea then went on to ‘park the plane’ at Inter Milan.
The point being Mourinho wouldn’t have been the right fit for the circumstances we’re facing.
That’s the route TFG look to be taking, in stark contrast to our previous owner. You can’t simultaneously stabilise and build.
We need to stabilise the finances and playing fortunes when that’s achieved we can then breakout and build a better more successful Club.
Time and patience required.
Would I have liked to see a Mourinho type in the dugout, of course, but TFG has gone Hillside not Hollywood, pragmatism not romance.
Moyes is a safe appointment that demonstrates a stability first approach and a recognition that they’re taking the long road to success.

The timing is interesting Neil and none of the usual ‘thanks for his efforts’ in the statement.
His composed press conference earlier in the week was an indicator that the end was nigh but to do it on game day would suggest a flashpoint.
fwiw I thought he’d be gone before the Cup game but if he fronts up the press conference tomorrow, that clearly won’t happen.
06.01.2025 18:50 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0There’s always a risk in changing Manager but the balance has certainly shifted in favour.
As I said initially the results are now putting pressure on TFG to act quicker than they probably would have liked.
That’s the judgement call TFG need to make and of course it all depends upon who’s available and willing to take the job.
A change of face, voice and tactics would certainly get the fans back onside.
Making a change now really does limit the options.
I’m not a fan of ‘going back’ and am not advocating Moyes but he knows his way round and I reckon he’d get more out of this squad.
Interesting shout that mate.
Even with Moyes to guide him, throwing Carsley into this shitshow would be high risk, for both parties.
Get the ship steady and longer term that would probably work.
I like Lee Carsley and his work with the England U21’s has been excellent but chucking him in to the Everton maelstrom would, imo, be too much of a risk for both parties.
04.01.2025 18:12 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0If we were winning games,TFG wouldn’t have a decision to make.
Fresh start sounds good but it depends who that Manager is. We’re unlikely to attract a Manager in work which limits the choice considerably, but I agree even an interim would provide a fresh impetus and get the fans back onside.
Moyes would jump at it but Potter would likely be a quivering wreck after a few games.
04.01.2025 18:02 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 4 📌 0I’d say the risk of keeping him now outweighs the risk of replacing him for the simple fact that the players look shot and the fans are hollowed out.
A fresh face, voice, and different tactics, even an interim, would provide a much needed bounce.
There are always risks in changing manager and hoping for a new Manager bounce.
TFG have to weigh up the risk of keeping him against the risk of replacing him but the balance should have shifted to the latter based on recent performances.
