It's a phenomenally bad take, and what's even stupider is its blatant Lucille Ball erasure. My god, Desilu studios. Hard to believe people like this dude can be so ignorant.

If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."

I'll be that other person, and ask how common it is to own anything yellow anyway, at least for us more pale Euro-descended types. Is it cynical to wonder if someone is selling t-shirts?

Democrats are often feckless bumblefucks, but I have honestly never felt like party leadership has abandoned rank and file Democrats to this extent. It's a goddamn vacuum at the top and no one is getting their shit together to put up some kind of fight.

A great deal of our problems result from not holding those who tried to destroy our democracy accountable for their actions.

LLMs: not just an ethical problem on 4 axes, but also downright dangerous to a significant chunk of the public.

A website that lets you select a country or state and move it around a Mercator projection map to yield better size comparisons.

New earbuds are getting a shakedown this weekend. Started the day with a homemade BEC and now idly scrolling while blasting my "Major-Chord Dopamine" playlist.

Growing up working-middle-class instilled a serious respect for the leisurely Sunday morning.

I choose to see it as a way to acknowledge that 1) were not likely to solve any of the world's problems, but 2) it's good to be thinking about something less horrible than actual world events while 3) idly speculating about something scary and painful, but also really damn stupid

I know Gene said at one point that 1701's spindly straight stick-like nacelle pylons implied incredibly tough materials because they looked wimpy. I get that, but I don't think the intent matches the effect... so the swept look of the pylons in SNW makes more sense

See, for me it seems more like the design aesthetic of SNW is intended as a way to retroactively let fans believe TOS always "really" looked like that, and it was only external offscreen tech limitations that made it look smaller and cheaper. Certainly works in that way, if you want it to.
