I now have a studio space and this is the first lil guy that came out of it

being an indie bookseller in the helltimes has felt both very stable and very stabilizing, and part of me wishes everyone could be on my side of the counter for a little while, because I think it would help some of you be a little less cynical and doomy right now. so here is my VERY anecdotal data:

The tattoo shop I was at on Friday - it's called Dames de Pique, is located near Pigalle/Moulin Rouge in Paris, and is home to talented artists George and Traquenard ✨

I drew this a few months ago but i haven't forgotten abt my wish to start tattoing 🪴

The one on the right hand isn't quite done yet - the skin just wouldn't take any more ink in, either because of exhaustion or because my whipping technique isn't peak yet (most likely a bit a both), but it was still a great session ✨

In regards to color and lighting, while it is very important to study from life and such, sometimes going with your gut and bullshitting the rules creates more impactful and bolder choices. And sometimes realistic lighting can be counterintuitive to a composition.
