Former NIH chief calls research cuts “careless” and “heartless” Francis Collins, MD, PhD, lauds lifesaving research supported by the National Institutes of Health, explains why he left, and warns of scientific brain drain.

"We’re all in favor of a gold standard for science. But it’s misleading, & even a little insulting, to say that somehow NIH didn’t already support that. Everything that NIH stands for is rigor in sci...There’s some implication here that NIH has been systematically sloppy. I reject that conclusion."🛟

Ironic that just a few months ago, NIH investigators were banned from making public appearances despite his belief that scientists should be allowed to “pursue ideas free of censorship or control” 🙄

14 Republican senators urge White House to release delayed NIH funds Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.) is leading the letter making the ask of OMB director Russ Vought.

Wait, sometimes there are surprises. Apparently some Republicans have now grasped the immense damage to their communities caused by massive cuts to NIH funding.

We told them this beforehand, yet they still thoroughly enjoyed seeing the massive cuts…until it affected them directly.

🙏 We need your help 🙏

The government continues to cancel grants at both NIH and NSF to censor science it doesn't like.

We're tracking terminations to organize and advocate. Please report your terminated grants:

Your yearly reminder to acknowledge the core facilities you use and their staff scientists in your papers. These scientists are a crucial part of the scientific ecosystem and to continue to exist they need tangible credit for their work. Plus their associated expertise adds credibility to your work.
