This show has now moved to Vicar Street due to ticket demand. Proceeds go to Medical Aid for Palestine. Tickets have just gone on sale and we’d love to sell it out and make as much money for humanitarian aid. Tickets for The Complex are still valid. Please share: www.ticketmaster.ie/irish-writer...

Failing Animals, a book by Sheila Armstrong

Failing Animals, a book by Sheila Armstrong

This is bloody good. I'm already worried about how I'm going to feel when it's finished. Beautifully written melancholy prose interspersed with regular slaps of imagery of shocking violence, although they rarely actually describe violence. The rhythm is exquisite.Thank you @sheelanogig.bsky.social !

These are always worth a good look. Especially liking the mention of 'Towards an inclusive Creative Writing', by Janelle Adsit.

(I'm still not 100% sure how this website works and would like to clarify this is not a threat... but an invitation.)

Taking a break from Belgian frites to head to the Cork Short Story Festival this weekend. Can only make the Friday but lots of shorty short shorts on all week.⬇️

Office Hours A question about mediocrity (from someone who clearly isn't)

"Patient: It hurts when I do this.
Doctor: Don’t do that."

George Saunders on mediocrity. If you're not signed up to his substack, you should be.

Like 90% of being an artist is being too stubborn to stop being an artist.

I'm irrationally terrified of being judged by the BBC. Not anyone in particular, just the entity itself...

First post over here and its a good'un. Hopefully safer to talk about how excruciating filming a five-minute segment is. Realising you have arms for the first time and have no idea what they are or where they're supposed to go.
