Before you import, make sure to set your prefs to copy files on import. That way it will convert them and not try to just use the SD2s.

So you tried Pro Tools Ultimate? I know it imports sd2. I haven’t tried opening a session that old. Have you tried importing session data from the old session? Like, start a blank template and import the tracks from the old one instead of trying to open it.
