Clues by Sam A daily logic puzzle where you deduce who is a criminal!

This is the first time I took less time than you to solve it, so I'm going to assume that you were distracted.

Being in Seattle, it's kinda hard not to.

And as much as I like Airbus, I was glad that hub-and-spoke lost out. I don't want to change planes to get to my destination โ€“ I want direct flights as much as possible.

A set of 9 square geomorphic tiles with topographic lines.

I've done a bunch of tilesets with geomorphic topo lines but always with the constraint that the lines always connect correctly.

Personally, I would be irritated if the topo lines were mismatched, although I might not notice immediately if the elevations were not color coded (as I show here).

every trans person i see post about the OU suspension knows that the suspended target is trans & a grad student, & has an innate awareness that this is about purging trans employees. every cis person i see thinks the target is a rando professor & that this is about giving conservatives good grades

A large semi truck in front of a building with a "Lavatruck Champagne" sign.

The best part about driving through the Champagne region of France is seeing companies that have Champagne in their name because of their location...

...and then imagining what a bottle of their wine would look like.

I think this one would have an exploding volcano with a flaming (lava) truck.

Picked up some recipes while in France. These ones are for "Nems de Tourteau" = Crab Spring Rolls.

The circle inset says: "Also consider: Spider" so I'm thinking maybe Spider Spring Rolls for Thanksgiving.

Wow. The story (from 2011) where he has a customer send a defective board to another (unsuspecting) customer indicates a kind of unsavory person who is always looking for ways to take advantage of other people.

Bumping this as a reminder NYT leans hard on revenue from their puzzles, games, Wirecutter etc to fund their billionaire apologist headlines, contrarian Op-Ed take havers, and iffy/yikes livetweeting style of journo

every few years it's revealed that the NYT was sitting on information about some horrific thing that public knowledge of would have changed the country's course and for some reason a ton of people still give them money. you can play those games on other sites

Fascism can't win without outlets like the NYT and WaPo continuously doing this.

Please stop sending money to these outlets. The bland, white-friendly recipes and word puzzles aren't worth it.

I'm not sure how useful the comparison will be though. The pork mousse is 25% pork, while the duck mousse is 45% duck.

I may have to have more mishaps.

Accidentally opened both a Mousse de Foie (pork) and a Mousse de Foie (duck) and now I'm forced to do a side-by-side taste comparison.

I was trying to avoid being all touristy while in Paris, and yet, here I am. In a crรชperie. On the Seine. In the shadow of Notre Dame.

In my defense, there's not a lot open before 10am.

A mock-up of an old D&D guide detailing the properties of magical items, featuring "Altmanโ€™s Quill of Artifice". The entry reads:
This enchanted quill, made from the feather of a harpy, serves as a magical scribe and sage, able to answer all its ownerโ€™s queries. The owner must use it to write a question at the top of a piece of paper or parchment, such as โ€œWhere is the secret entrance to the Kingโ€™s treasury?โ€ or โ€œHow can I cure lycanthropy?โ€ Acting under its own power, it will write an answer. But despite its apparent (and often genuine) usefulness, this item is cursed.
Roll d20 to determine the result of any query: 1 Hopelessly wrong, 2-5 Contains major errors, 6-10 Contains minor errors, 11-16 Accurate but incomplete, 17-20 Fully accurate.
Apply modifiers in line with the rules for consulting sages (see Table 62) depending on the nature of the question (general 0, specific -2, exacting -4) and the availability of relevant knowledge (complete 0, partial -2, non-existent -6). The DM should choose the nature of any errors, as well as the consequences of believing them.
If the answer is less than fully accurate, that will not be obvious, as the quill of artifice writes in a confident and authoritative manner. A reader may scrutinise the answer to attempt to notice any problem, but to succeed they must pass an intelligence check at a penalty of -2. Anyone who has previously failed such a check makes all future checks at -4. The owner of the quill is particularly vulnerable, permanently losing one point of intelligence with each inaccurate answer that is believed. The owner will be unaware of this loss, and will become fiercely possessive of the quill, refusing to give it up and distrusting anyone who doubts its output.
A remove curse spell may make the owner willing to part with it, but the loss of intelligence is irreparable.
