Organized labor built our middle class. In the State Senate, I’ve fought for fair wages and safe working conditions alongside Michigan’s carpenters and millwrights. We’re taking this fight to Washington and I’m so honored @mrccunion.bsky.social is joining my campaign for Congress.

➡️ Protect privacy of personal information from purposes of immigration enforcement without a warrant

➡️ Prevent law enforcement officers from wearing masks to conceal their identity except under certain circumstances

➡️ Designate schools, places of worship, hospitals, courts, domestic violence shelters and other places as protected spaces from immigration enforcement without a warrant (just as during the first Trump term)

That’s why Senators Mary Cavanagh, @stephanielilychang.bsky.social and I introduced legislation to ensure the safety and privacy of Michigan’s immigrant and refugee communities.

Our bills:

Dismantling communities, breaking up families, snatching people off the street and disappearing them to El Salvador without due process are not signs of a healthy immigration policy.

We cannot empower the Trump administration to use secret masked police to wreak havoc on civil neighborhoods here.

Our majority passed the first gun safety laws in a generation that are saving lives today.

It can be done. That’s the record and determination I will bring with me to Congress.

Nearly a decade ago, just a few of us in the Michigan Legislature formed a Gun Violence Prevention Caucus. We didn’t have much support inside the Capitol, but we persisted.

After years of too many mass shootings, including Oxford and MSU, we grew to a majority in the Legislature.

I sponsored the bill that added sexual orientation and gender identity to our civil rights law to ensure LGBTQ Michiganders do not face discrimination in employment, housing, healthcare, and education.

With Trump DOJ’s persecution of trans patients and inquisition of healthcare providers, let’s be clear: the Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act is the law in Michigan, not an unlawful executive order.

I don’t just passively write statements to oppose extreme Republican policies. I show up to tell them to their faces.

This is the kind of fight we need right now in the Democratic Party. We have to show people that Democrats have a backbone.

I joined with grassroots activists in the West Bloomfield area and Farmington Hills area over the weekend.

All summer long, Democrats have been gathering at picnics in communities throughout Oakland County — to share ideas, learn about candidates, join campaigns, and forge the path to win in 2026.

We are also living through an alarming rise in antisemitism, both around the world and here at home. I’ve fearlessly stood up, whether working on legislative efforts to combat hate crimes or being outspoken in calling out bigotry where it exists.

Jewish voters are consistently the most supportive of reproductive freedom, gun safety, and LGBTQ rights. These are fights that I’ve won in the State Legislature, a record I will bring to Congress.

Early voting is underway in many 2025 local races in Michigan!

After the passage of Prop 2, as chair of the Senate Elections Committee, I worked with clerks and voting rights advocates to draft and pass the law that expands in-person voting for at least 9 days before Election Day.

It’s a summer of action in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District! I crisscrossed through Oakland County — from the 11th District picnic in Waterford to the Royal Oak Area Dems beer social — to meet up with the folks putting in the early work for 2026.

2026 starts now! Oakland County Dems are fending off Trump chaos by organizing early.

Our support in Oakland County continues to grow! I am grateful for these trusted partners throughout the county. We are committed to ensuring the 11th District has strong, bold representation in Congress.

The hardworking men and women of Laborers’ Local 1076 are rebuilding Michigan’s critical infrastructure and I’m honored they are behind my campaign for Congress. From repealing right-to-work to restoring prevailing wage, I’m running on a record committed to working families.

As we all face rising costs, Donald Trump’s most thought-out policies are:

👎 giving tax breaks to billionaires
👎 kicking people off their healthcare and food assistance
👎 insisting everyone call him “Daddy”

Instead, Congress should be providing real relief where it’s needed most.
