Two remarkable young people many of you know and love, Josue (19) and Estefany (21), have been suddenly detained during what should have been a routine immigration check. They’ve since been moved through multiple detention facilities across the country. Their current conditions are unclear, communication is limited, and their family is terrified. These siblings came to the U.S. seeking asylum when they were just 8 and 10 years old, fleeing violence in El Salvador with their mother and two older siblings. They’ve grown up here, they are our community. Who they are: Josue: dear, close friend to the girls who participated in show choir, theater, color guard, and a beloved Chick-fil-A employee on track to become a team lead. He also is pursuing to become an electrical engineer at our local community college. Estefany: Also a beloved Chick-fil-A employee and a recent graduate from FCC with an assiciates in business; she is part of the Old Line Color Guard, theater kid at heart, and a dedicated student and community member.
