I quickly did some work on an asteroid model. Improved mesh and material.

IMO the lighting could be improved mainly by using global illumination. The shadows shojld be darker at some spots and the caves too

Looks good! Not sure how but it would be nice if you could somehow prevent the character model clipping for immersions sake. But this all looks very fun already!

I wonder why they chose GZDoom? I would imagine its way more limited than the other big general purpose game engines?

Does it have certain features other engines are lacking? Do the devs just know GZDoom the best?

This won't be useful to me, but I could imagine some people wanting more stylized skyboxes like a simple blue sky, maybe looking a little cartoonish, maybe some clouds...

While the solo argument certainly is valid, I also started my project as a solo, but what if unexpectedly someone joins me for reasons that weren't obvious in the start? Then that person will have a rough time using your commits to find something...

Ah yeah. Static scenery will be a bit hard to do for me, but I feel like I can still improve the quality even before uploading to Bluesky.
But maybe also the heaps of black color sprinkled with stars aren't good for the compression?
