God I'd love some new gear. Okada has some of my favourite wrestling gear of all time. Those robes like the Tekken King one or the 2012 Rainmaker robe? God I wish I had something like that.
No clue where I'd wear it but they look amazing.

Considering that stipulation was brought up against MJF of all people, I gotta agree with you there. It wasn't just an added stipulation. It is a very pointed call back.

Every time MJF and Hangman have a face-to-face promo the LAYERS they add to each other's characters should be studied. Twice last year and now another one this year where they have cut DEEP to the core of each other's (but especially MJF's) character arc.

Nobody talks to MJF like Hangman does. They have some of my favourite promo battles in AEW. That time Hanger pointed out how much he wants the crowd to love him and MJF scowled.
The smarmy lines stopped and MJF got angry in a way we rarely see. The layers in 1 line is so good.

Hangman has been directly challenging these regressions lately. He focuses on MJF history of choices attacks his cowardace because that is a core flaw of MJF. From boy to man.

I think people who say he hasn't progressed don't accept regression as development. Which cheats you out of character depth if you do.
MJF regressed most of all in both the Punk & Cole fueds. Both of those let him boldly proclaim he was right to be the way he is.

Honestly, if you're only a fan of the guys and girls at the top then I will internally question of you're even a fan of wrestling.

He has improved a lot. Still not a fan personally but the guy is athletically talented.

You've not missed any quality discourse around it. A LOT of meltdowns over it. It feels like a bad idea but after seeing how many people were making it out to be cataclysmic, it put it in perspective for me that it's not a big deal.

Only thing I know about Cena's wrestling career is people who weren't kids at the time hated how he would win all the time no matter what. So it's not that, I genuinely do not know what they meant by the analogy. I'm still wondering.

Considering how Rocky negotiates for the wrestling industry, not AEW, I don't think there's a better guy to have on your side than Rocky.

Haven't seen her but I've heard some things. The transition from MMA fighter to Pro Wrestler really doesn't feel like it shouldn't be as hard as it evidently is.

I could gush at how well Marina has just 'gotten it' in recent years. Her style hasn't changed mainly her presentation and she wrestles cleanler now but keeps that raw feel you get from being an MMA trained fighter.

While that's the biggest face thing he did, I hesitate to say that was a face turn cause he did nothing face-like since. Probably more accurate to say he was a tweener from then until the return to heel.

It depends on Marina to if she's getting a boo or cheer and yeah, Claudio used to get boo'd until these single matches lately which is interesting that all it takes for some is a few banger solo matches.

Yeah, I don't think people are invested in the heel & face dynamic as they used to be. It can be fun to blur the lines but there's something to be said about fans undercutting stories by not playing along.
For example, it doesn't really help Mox when the crowd boos the Death Riders but cheers Mox.

Nah. Just like you gotta do something to be heel, you gotta do something to be a face. I think some fans forget that. They cheer for a guy who turns down the heel stuff and they call that a "face."

Catching up on AEW Collision and it seems I'll have to think about if I like the Young Bucks and Lee Johnson enough to sit through a match with Blake Christian.

AEW doesn't need to be making a big deal about the indie stuff right now. A lot of pretige comes from the look back because you're bragging about history.
AEW likes its ties to the indies and wants it healthy. It can't always do that work on TV, some of it will need to be done to the indies.

It ties MJF and the AEW title to an old wrestling history of the territory days.
MJF can brag he's like a travelling champ and Harley Race and Rick Flair. Something he personally loves.
AEW's title prestige gets a more robust reputation and can argue there's a level of tradition in it too.

The funniest part to me is when people were really starting to want Cody to turn heel, was around the time he debuted the Homelander inspired gear. And he was so surprised there was anyone who wanted him to turn heel. Hilariously oblivious.
