My new story “An Open Heart” is out in the @newyorker.com flash fiction series. It’s a long, strange sentence with stories within stories and a MySpace reference.

To all the orgs and collectives supporting the Palestinian cause and to the Palestinians themselves fighting for their liberation, I want to express my love and admiration. From the river to the sea, may Palestine be free, inshaAllah.

Seeing countless students and protestors all over the world put their bodies and their futures on the line for the sake of the Palestinian cause has been one of the few bright lights in this year of darkness.

The IDF has routinely targeted children, journalists, and medical workers. Palestinian prisoners are being tortured and raped in Israeli prisons. Right now, the Palestinain population entrapped in Gaza are being bombed, shot, maimed, beheaded, burned alive, and starved.

At least 44,000 Palestinians have been killed by the genocidal apartheid state of Israel, and that number is almost certainly an underestimate as it does not account for the thousands still buried under rubble. Every university in Gaza has been destroyed.

I'm honored to announce that I'll be joining the Program in Creative Writing at Princeton University as Assistant Professor, and I want to take this oppurtunity to reaffirm my support for all those who are resisting the Israeli genocide of the Palestinians.
