Recs be havin' ya

very envious. I get a very tiny holiday (annual leave of 23 days) but no sick pay... and this Monday will be start of week 3 of time off sick because NHS decided that I can go over 2 weeks without wound care or post surgery follow-up (wish I was joking). Currently hanging in there.

Still digging through the options on the directors cut arrow films edition of legend.... The US theatrical is so much closer to what I grew up watching (and been seeking out recently).

Been on a bit of a quest to find the good version of legend (dir Ridley Scott) this being the 1 on uk TV in late 80s with tangerine dream score, is actually quite dark in tone, Lily is a lady + doesn't sing. Thought id been successful with the arrow films directors cut edition. Sadly not! #filmsky

Authors have also spoken to me about this, especially lesser known ones, their agents will arrange book signings for them, but not food or hotel. Quite a few will go hunt for reduced sandwiches whilst on book signing tours.

Always gotta look after the talent if you want the best out of them.

Still not hit my 150th film of the year but getting closer to it. Not sure what this Friday / Saturday so far says about my viewing habits.

Mainly on bed rest this week following unplanned surgery, so I've been showing a few films to anyone helping with at home care.

Fassbender is still a decent actor, excellent in many things but I think they didn't give him the best bits to work with. Just to clarify I'm not anti- Faz.

I quite liked Toby Stephens version.... I didn't quite understand what they were trying to do with Michael Fassbender (?) Version ....it was like we still want the ladies to fancy you so we will use fog for ....anger! Upset! Dramatic brooding! ... Much fog many brow furrow.

5/ at dinner one of our group spots the ring and is cheering, and Laura decides she wants to try my ring on, and he insists that I let her, so I do.

I guess she liked it a little too much because skip forward a few years (a) he was three hours late to collect me from a party [had he been on time

4/ at a jewellers that is not Ernest Jones (I picked my own, even the jeweller said the rings he was picking didn't suit me despite being double the price of what I did pick, so I felt like they were ok) I get it resized same day, we go out to dinner with friends that night (still on birthday week)

3/ I say to him, is this you asking to get engaged. And he says might as well do.

Eventually get somewhere to get something to eat and I flick through the catalogue. He turns his nose up at everything I say I think is nice. A few days later, we're in Bolton and I pick a custom ring out at

2/ but he wouldn't listen to my directions... Anyway ended up outside the prison down that end, and he says to me "oh yeah I forgot your birthday present, pick something out of this" and he hands me a rather battered Ernest Jones catalogue, which had an engagement ring section at the front. So ...

1/ Was on a trip to London, and was dragged on a 5 mile walk in the wrong direction in Walthamstoe or however it's spelt (not good considering spina bifida) to go find a vegan cafe for breakfast (extra annoying was that the actual cafe was 15 mins walk from the cheap pub hotel we were staying at)

The small things count for a lot.

A good proposal can be quiet, intimate. Maybe one day, like in that letters to cleo song, you'll be in bed on a Sunday morning, with your tea and toast and be warm and there it will be 💗

if we end up in some kind of of weird dystopia where it's straight marriage or die, I will propose to you. and then be the beard (or hag). we can have buffy marathons every week.

(also if your bf proposed to you the way my ex-fiancé did to me, he will be in big trouble...not romantic).

this thread is actually quite wholesome / accurate to what male gaze vs female gaze looks like. Also these guys look like they should be drinking 2 litres of water a day with me (or any other reasonable human being), not trying to avoid water because water is death to vein poppin'.

is it that bad? are you going to full on hate-read and then annotate why it was so bad?
