Vermonters weren’t particularly concerned when President Jefferson signed the Embargo Act into law in December 1807. They assumed the new law, which was bound to have a chilling effect on the nation’s economy, wouldn’t affect them.

The Nebraska Sandhills are the Western hemisphere's largest dunes and one of the last totally untouched prairie left in North America.

In typical Vermont fashion, where farmers markets and food co-ops thrive, FPF shows, as Anil Dash said, that :

Big platforms can be alienating; FPF is empowering because it’s a natural extension of people’s offline lives, not a massive room where everyone speaks but no-one is heard.

All of the users I have interviewed really enjoy the scale and temporality of FPF because it matches their physical environment, in their words, it’s relevant to their lived experience.
