Journalists using AI in place of actual images, video, audio, or factual reporting can mislead and contribute to actions that harm individuals and society. AI is not good enough yet to recognize truth and not smart enough yet to communicate reliably and effectively.

And it's impossible to prove, though easy to spot, so you can't gig them for it. Fortunately, AI-written papers are overly general and often contain fake quotes. A gentle comment like "It looks like you may have stumbled on an AI-generated quote" and a failing grade discourages future use of AI.
