The latter always tells me that they fall all the time and they don't need care and they're correct until the last call from a friend or neighborwhen I'm doing a wellness check.

I can't remember the last time I tried to coerce a healthy person into an ambulance for a ride which makes absolutely no difference for my income. I do recall dozens of calls from folks with repeated falls due to serious health issues who have me help them up and then refuse medical care. #emt

Now I'm thinking about horror-adjacent kids. Like they can start fires using their mind but only large enough to light a cigarette. Or able to communicate with recently deceased goldfish.

It's shocking (but sadly, believable) that the accomplishments of this group, which saved countless lives through their example, has been ignored and erased.

I assumed it was a fabrication. How could such an important part of the history of EMS be omitted, after all. I was flabbergasted to find out it was true... and that "Freedom House" appears exactly zero times in my digital textbook (Emergency Care 14th edition - the current standard).

My EMS textbook, which drilled (over and over) the fact that the French army was the first to (literally) cart wounded from the battlefield in 1790, makes no mention of Freedom House. I only found out about it because it was mentioned on an episode of a medical drama on Max.
