It's shocking (but sadly, believable) that the accomplishments of this group, which saved countless lives through their example, has been ignored and erased.

I assumed it was a fabrication. How could such an important part of the history of EMS be omitted, after all. I was flabbergasted to find out it was true... and that "Freedom House" appears exactly zero times in my digital textbook (Emergency Care 14th edition - the current standard).

My EMS textbook, which drilled (over and over) the fact that the French army was the first to (literally) cart wounded from the battlefield in 1790, makes no mention of Freedom House. I only found out about it because it was mentioned on an episode of a medical drama on Max.

After Freedom House was closed, a city ambulance service WAS adopted in Pittsburg, which benefitted greatly from the standards its predecessor company put in place. Unfortunately, the Freedom House paramedics were fired or moved to menial, non-technical jobs, and replaced by white paramedics.

...by the local mayor who, apparently, had close ties to the police union, which had been in charge of pre-hospital transport (often via paddy wagon!!) prior to the creation of the Freedom House service.

The service was staffed by 25 black men recruited from The Hill District, an economically depressed, predominantly black neighborhood in Pittsburg. After all the groundbreaking work done by Freedom House, which dramatically reduced pre-hospital deaths there, the program was killed...

This season asks you to invest your emotions in a character who was hopeful and growing last season and is now flat and static. Worse, she's totally not credible.

It's bad storytelling, and I doubt people who haven't played the game will remember the story a year from now.

Yeah ... It's "visually stunning" which is what we say about all mortally flawed series with bad story and big budgets.

For premier TV it's weak storytelling and a waste of the equity these characters built up in the last season.

The continuity and suspension of disbelief needs to clear a much lower bar in that medium where we are basically just looking for new ways to kill zombies.

Someone over there should have said something to the showrunners of TLOU. This linear, retrograde revenge fantasy where we kill one beloved character from season one and have the other ignore all the lessons and sacrifices of the other is fine for a videogame.

HBO is usually pretty good at deciding when to depart from source material for a much loved franchise that goes off the rails. With all due respect to the great Mr. Martin, they knew to do this in Season 3 and beyond in GOT.
