Fifth anniversary of this masterpiece

As someone who loves both Hal (in concept more often than execution) and Englehart’s work on Batman, I truly don’t know wtf anyone was thinking with this. It’s an irreparable stain on his whole character.

All the more reason I desperately want more people to know about “A Tale of Two Halves” by @sispurrier.bsky.social and Sherman. One of the most stunning, innovative, and beautiful Two-Face stories ever.

I fully agree. It’s why I loved “Batman: The Audio Adventures” so much, because it felt like a series about Gotham as a whole, not just Batman. And in terms of civilians, I wish more people knew about Ostrander’s “Gotham Nights” minis, maybe the closest we’ve ever gotten to Batman’s “Astro City.”

They reprinted Jones??? DC cancelled the collection of his GL run after his arrest, so I’m surprised to hear that they’ve reprinted something of his ever again. What is it?

My first two comics, Batman or otherwise, were encountered when I was 7 and changed my life forever. They opened up a whole world of rogues, introduced me to Jim Aparo, and gave me my lifelong fixation for Harvey Dent (who I especially love when he rocks the Aparo turtleneck).

My response is confusion, because your insistence is bizarre. No one aligns with assailants, unless you consider due process a form of alignment. But I don’t want to put words in your mouth, since you seem to be coming from a place and mindset that’s far removed from my understanding.

That is a huge leap in assumption on your part, if—again—you mean it in good faith. You say “therefore,” but that conclusion in no way follows what I had said. Yet you seem to think it does, that one follows the other. That does not correspond to anyone’s reality. That’s the problem here.

I engaged because you wanted an answer and I had one, which you have since ignored in favor of asking a question that presupposes that there are actual people arguing that murderers shouldn’t be held accountable. Literally no one is saying that, but I think you know that. Do you?

The fact that you assumed my position based solely on my response indicates that you are not actually asking in good faith. Are you? Or do you just want a liberal strawman to knock down?

It’s a valuable reminder for us all that those kinds of people—along with a substantial portion of online folks who talk about comics in general—overwhelmingly don’t actually read comics at all.
