20.03.2025 15:14 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0You just *would* buy a book called "The Record Store At The Top Of The World". You would!
Let's do it @penguin @natgeo @publishers
The northernmost record store in the world is in the Arctic Circle, at the top of Norway. The southernmost is at the bottom of New Zealand's South Island. As of about five minutes ago, it is my life's ambition to write a travel book visiting different record shops, journeying between the two.

08.02.2025 10:09 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0There's a much, much more interesting article to be written on the Gatekeeping Of Guinness. It's mad to see how many folk portray one of the best known drinks in the world as some secret, underground ritual.

All I have to add to the current WFH discourse is this -
My girlfriend is cuddled up under my shoulder watching The Elephant Man and our cat is asleep on my lap. I am working on the laptop. It's great.

Why, in 2025, is a national newspaper still putting this twisted maniac* on its front page?

Also - came home with a complimentary bookmark. It doesn't get better than this.
Finally getting around to reading some HST, as is a rite of passage for any white male writer in their mid-20's. The surprising thing is how bloody good it is! Most of the essays in here are worlds more interesting than the self-indulgent excess that I'd expected. Lovely clear sentences too.

When explained it was a toll for cars entering Manhattan, he then asked โWhat do you mean? What is a car?โ Walking outside, we showed him a vehicle parked on the street. He gently touched the hood of the car. โYou wish to forbid these majestic beasts from entering the city,โ he said in a wistful tone. โIt is a folly of man. The desire to tame the world around us.โ
