Yup, I did the same with my radio copy over and over again. Writing for commercials is vastly different than writing in the field I'm in now. I'm an academic, and i find writing in that area quite challenging when I fall into old habits. I'm almost done with my Ph.D. then finishing my LitRPG!

I know who you are, and after 20 years of professional radio and television, I totally hear you. Pun intended! The skill does help.

Do you not read your writing aloud? It's was standard procedure when I was a Production Director working in Radio. As I'm writing now I find myself falling into old habits and reading aloud. It does not replace my editing but I find I can get a handle on the read flow better.
